Chriscaad8 reacted to AlanT in Track league 5th October
I'd forgotten how tough that could be. Started brightly enough with a 6th place in the first race but went rapidly backwards after that. Ended up time trialling the next two races because I didn't have a hope of going with the surges. The devil was pretty much a case of muscling my way past the tail rider until I ran out of strength.
Great night, can''t wait for next week.

Enjoyable night. For the Bs it was the sprint first, i missed the jump and had to close a fairly big gap had ok speed on the final lap but couldnt come round so didnt qualify for the final. Points next tried for for a break but it was a half arsed attempt, got caught then yo yoing of the back to the end. Scratch felt ok although i was too near the back to place well in the sprint. Last up was a devil, did ok ended up 4th or 5th. Overall better than last week but still work to do. Some good results from Hamish and Matti if they continue their progress it wont be long until they are in the As

Well done Joansin!
From our vantage point we choose our own prizes!
Biggest smile - Alex
Most painful facial expression - Andy
Biggest tongue stick out - Paul
Delayed recognition - Paul Leavy shouting hello 20m after he passed
Earliest recognition - Couttie bellowing hello 30m before us!
Steely determination - Alan
Missed out some others as taking a 2 year old to the side of the busiest/fastest road in Houston wasn't one of my best ideas!! Was like sheparding a squirrel!

Good idea but can't make it however sprint training is simple with two key principles leg speed and force on pedals so if you want to accelerate more you work on both.
You could do small ring no gear change high cadence sprints for 50 m roll slow then full on recover for 2 minutes repeat 5/10 times
Then for force do 250 meter sprints one change big ring standing or seated same as above roll to start slowly full on change down once recover 4 minutes repeat 5/10 times
Ideally you don't want a lead out but would be good latter

Gorgeous night for TT-ing, warm, dry and a tailwind on the out leg.
Chris - DNS
Emma - 26.19, paid
Richard - 21.34, PB, paid (this week, last time out and next time out)
£12 transferred to club funds. Thanks to Billy for pushing riders off.
Well done to Richard on the PB, in a shockingly large fixed gear.

Good run today. Bunch of 6 - Carol, Dave, Bill T., Graham, Anthony and myself - enjoyed the sunshine as the morning warmed up. Just over 50 miles for myself.

Right thanks chung all i needed to hear. Id cycle to club for the miles and would probably just head home by ardrossan to avoid the worst up the hills.
Gotta get out down kilbirnie and see what the b784 does to my ears before i try anything worse on sunday

'Tis too early in the year for the last man standing nonsense that McBagel refers to, added to which the boggers are still bogging it on the westferry. There was a distinct air of mutual respect re-established by the elder statesmen and co-founders of this ride last week - work hard but no one got broken. That said this is not a Sunday bunch ride but a mid week training ride. We do soft pedal to let people come together after a climb such as the Bowfield but the pace is brisk and sustained for the most part, especially on the flatter sections. The long drag out of Stewarton, most definitely the hardest section of the ride, is a work out and if one gets dropped then one gets dropped.
If you fancy giving it a bash I'd suggest you come along with the view of getting to at least Dunlop or Stewarton with the group and have a bail out plan if the pace is too strong, stick at it for a few weeks and then aim to do the whole route. There is a side road back to Dunlop a mile or so out of Stewarton off the main drag. You don't need to have ridden the route beforehand. Some Strava follower will have posted the route somewhere on the forum. Check back through last year's threads for the Swing Bee rides

Chriscaad8 got a reaction from iain couttie in Fawkirk tt
Got down for this and did it in 30.36 bit dissapointed at not breaking the 30 minute barrier but it was very windy on the back 5.
Spied a wheeler who im assuming was ian couttie as thats the only other person whos name was down. Have never met ian before but he said hello as i had my club top on, would be nice to hear how he got on.
2nd time trial ever out the road, first club run tomorrow and hopefully get in about the ten mile confined tts :-)
