Gummers got a reaction from Thomsonscycles in Fat Lads Flat Chance
Good racing today! Eight laps of a 5 mile circuit. Strong headwind made for slow going heading north on A77. Lots of moves and breaks which were mostly closed down on the southerly stretch. Andy Prenelle clocked 50mph in the following car. Followed Paul's advice and stayed towards the front end particularly for the roundabout turns. All Joansin safe in the final bunch. 7th for Paul, 17th for myself. Not sure about Colin's place but well up. My best finish yet and I had energy to spare today. Hoping this bodes well for the season!

Gummers got a reaction from Thomsonscycles in TEAM STORE - OPEN
Mark
Thanks very much for all your efforts on behalf of the club to organise and coordinate the club store and new kit. Thanks to Allan too in stepping in to purchase additional kit ensuring minimum numbers are met for production.
I think the kit looks really great and a really nice refresh!

Gummers got a reaction from martin in New Bogs thread for new year
Aye 50 miles into wind. Bunch of 5 singled up all the way. Climb out of Kilwinning no head wind and decent pace. Top of climb turned at Auchentiber then first big attack goes off. Next climb next attack goes off. Bunch all over the place by that stage. Much suffering, much fun and much learning.

Gummers reacted to chung in Sunday 16th Feb - Reliability #3 - Sinclair Street
Well, today was certainly a real "reliability" test for the bikes! 2 sheared rear mech hanger, and one snapped chain........ Oh, and a punctures thrown in for good measure :-)
Group of 8 in the 9.30am group, first timer - Will from BoW joining us in this madness, apparently he enjoyed it today.
Making good progress all the way to Sinclair street riding as a group proper, disaster struck just coming out of Duck Bay with Paul's rear mech shearing off due to a combination of falling off earlier on the track which probably bent the hanger & gunky chain. Spend a good 15 minutes at least converting it into a single speed. The 10 am group arrived just as we finished, so a welcome tow by them from Alexandra to the Bridge was very welcomed.
Incident free until we got to Langbank where Alan Foxy had a puncture and Mark snapped his rear mech as well further up the road.
Eventually got back to the club room with soup, pizza, rolls & cakes waiting, magic!
Thoroughly enjoyed it today, hope everyone got home ok. Especially Paul as he had another machincal coming into Dumbarton, hope you're home safely!
Well done to Will, our guest rider & Emma for hanging in there towards the end, great effort!
Thanks for the wheels guys & girl, also to the banquet suppliers - big thumbs up!
P.S Get your bikes fixed and in tip top condition for next weeks West Kilbride run, that's what these Reliability Runs are designed for!
Cheers

Gummers reacted to DavieB in Sunday 9th February - Reliablity #2 - Moscow Revolution
The scourge of the CO2 canisters obviously struck twice....I hate these things and even though I make a point to avoid them I was CO2'd also.
"Carry on Puncture Repair" starring me and Alan premeried on the Moscow loop today. Being stuck in my wee chain ring from the first climb out of Stewarton was another highlight but the best part of the day was my bonk in absolutely atrocious conditions on my way back from the club rooms - had to stop at Lochwinnoch for a rice crispy caramel thing to see me home.
Good to get out and 60 odd miles with no pain

Gummers reacted to Mark O in 2014 (spring/summer) Kit Order
Ok folks, to head off the usual comments about sizes, I'm looking into the options regards a new supplier. I have already crossed one or two off my list from feedback from other cycling clubs based on their collective experience.
I hope to organise a evening whereby members can try the fit of whats on offer and see the quality etc. I'll post up details as and when these are available. This shouldn't stop those wishing to order kit advising me of what they want. Bear in mind the cut off date - just to keep a lid on things. Also, to keep this thread as clean as possible, if you have advice for a fellow members could you PM that advice rather than posting on the thread.
