    Farewell

Hey Davie i’m really grateful that you have shared your news. Awful as it is, your characteristic grit and determination is as evident as ever in how you’re facing this step of your journey. I will set about digging out some photos (the Ayrshire Alps come to mind) and will send these to you. I’ve enjoyed very many happy hours discovering the back lanes and roads of Ayrshire with my fellow Ayrshire JWCC team mate and the many hours bemoaning the brexit disaster as it unfolded. It’s great news about your gravel e-bike and as ever I’d love to hang on to your wheel when we have the opportunity. I’m always about if you ever want to catch up for a cup of coffee or something stronger. Andy
  3. Thanks Eric. Apologies it occurred on a messenger thread where someone posted that there had been updated restrictions. I’ve posted this as a JWCC run and will keep track and trace for you. andy
  4. Hi all run cancelled in light of updated guidance from Scottish cycling
  5. Saturday forecast bodes well! Paul McD and I were thinking about an excursion to Ayrshire Alps. GPX and Route details attached. Ride is 4 hours, 106km and 1600m of climbing. Cars required but usual meeting point is the lay-by on the B7045 just south of Minishant. Suggest meeting at 0900am at start of route Andy Ayrshire_Alps.gpx Ayrshire Alps.pdf

  7. See you at Dalry DavieB?
  8. That’s 21 events unaccounted for G! I have 0 commute related but 2 MTB related. If we count those theres another 19 going spare.
  9. Risk of hospitalisation is that if 1000 people cycle to work every day for 10 years we’d expect to see an additional 26 hospitalisations (23 <1 week) so although there is an increased risk this of injury is small overall. these data are great argument for increasing cycling safety and traffic calming measures.
  10. Study in BMJ today Involving 264,377 participants (average age 53 years) recruited from the UK Biobank - a database of biological information from half a million British adults. Commuting to work by Cycling or walking is associated with substantial health benefits.
  11. Three weeks to transition from Chris Biggins to Chris Hoy!
  12. Congratulations Iain and well done all today. Tricky conditions for a restricted gear TT
  13. I’d be up for a Sunday magical mystery tour
  14. Warning from the WhatsApp thread. There is growing evidence of a non infectious but psychologically contagious syndrome. People are at risk developing “Shite weather hopelessness syndrome” characterised by depressive mood, irritability, frustration, and social withdrawal. People are mistakingly using self isolation and quarantine to limit the spread. even worse some people have gone to Spain to escape the syndrome I would prescribe period of bunch therapy involving sustained exposure to various gradients of shite weather plus coffee stops.
  15. I know I ridiculed Paul’s ridicule .... however seagulls are flying side ways down here which I’m taking as a bad sign for me
  16. Planning to take the southwesterly from the ‘shire to clubrooms or morrisons for the 0930 and take it from there
  17. Happiest moment of my day realising this cool news
