DavieB reacted to alexb in Ride London
Sorry Davie! I've had a full weekend of comedy gold starting with a room that was at most 14 foot x 9 foot.
For 8.
I think I hid my displeasure well and didn't really comment on it too much...

DavieB got a reaction from thejanullrichdietplan in Cavendish on the BBC
Considering the usual guff spouted this is not bad ...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/33222937
...maybe some tips for the 30mph sign club.

Billy - conceded; one daft wee thing which you stick a 8mm allen key into ....sack cloth and ashes on order, Amazon is great is it not?
To bring some sanity to the issue I have been dis-satisfied with campag for a while - quality issues, really poor maintainability on BB's, bodging together home made tools, lack of bargains come sales time, etc. However as I exist in the world of swapping over parts and hand me downs I was caught in a rare mental state I latterly christened "the campag cycle of doom". Snapping my LH shifter halfway through LBL was the final straw and released me from the cycle.
Seriously the stuff is p*sh.
Winter bike remains Campag (with Shim BB) - I have a lot of stuff to wear out but want to be able to maintain the BB without recourse to bearing pullers, drifts, hammers etc;
'Crosss bike runs SRAM - DIY single ring set-up with with clutched rear (mountain bike) mech necessitated it;
Road bike - Shim.
As for disc brakes on road bikes....
#Idemandthreadedbottombrackets;
#Idemandexternalcablerouting;
#lookslikemynexframeistiortwss;
#stopsolutionstoproblemsthatdon'texist.
Hades is melting I just appropriated #speak - no idea what the hell the # actually means but hey ho.

Now open for entries ...for those running discs there is the proviso that you have the ability to maintain throughout the event.
For info even though my "Sunday" bike is disc braked, I will be running canti's / mini-v's on older frame if I get a start.

DavieB got a reaction from Richard in Shorts
Bump.
If this is every man/woman/child for himself can anybody supply the relevant e-mail address to get resolution as per Billy. If not for general distribution PM affected members.
No interest in buying any more Pactimo gear if the shorts I have worn about 10 times have the @rse falling oot them.

DavieB got a reaction from Darryl Gunson in Fred Whitton route ride (as club awayday)?
Darryl,
Would tend to agree that if the majority are coming back up then it would be best to all do the same thing.
I am easy whether it is Sat or Sun.
Cheers,
Davie

DavieB got a reaction from Gummers in Cross Coaching Sessions
Billy,
Could be interesting - I struggle sometimes with the times that things are on in the evenings as I work in the backwoods of East Ayrshire.
Off the wall tip in terms of balance & handling is learn to ride rollers (not the parabolic ones).

DavieB got a reaction from PaulL in Weekend viewing - Cyclocross World Champs
For anyone interested a weekend of racing avaiable via UCI Channel;
https://www.youtube.com/user/ucichannel
The womens race might shape up to be a cracker if a few in-form riders, principally Nash, prevent a Vos whitewash.
Mens elites should be good with the two under 23's who have been giving the elites a kicking all season being up against the likes of Pauwells whose schedule is now settled enough to allow him to prepare properly.
Snow was forecast so this could add to the fun.
Cheers,
Davie

DavieB got a reaction from Ramsay in Three Peaks Cyclocross 2015
I have been trying to talk myself into entering this for a few years now and am pretty much committed to entering this year. A cycling event where it's mandatory to carry a survival bag and emergency whistle. What could possibly go wrong............?

If anybody else is interested please post up.
Cheers,
Davie

DavieB got a reaction from Ramsay in Cyclocross livestreams
Anybody who is enjoying the UCI channel coverage of the cyclocross world cup should check out www. VIER.be for archived footage and live streams.
Watched both the Zilvermeercross live and archived footage of the Superprestige Francorchamps, which features the run up from hell :twisted leer, today. Extremely cool courses and skills on show.
I am an internet dolt who can't figure out the likes of Steephill TV so if I can do it I would imagine anybody could.
The Flemish commentary is strangely hypnotic and far more informative than the arch irritant McCrossan who needs to get over his unrequited crush of Nys.

From barneys on main bunch forum to welding lessons. I think I could claim CPD for reading these posts

True DB true
Can a member of the post police remove my post so the dark secrets of welding and testing stay hidden

DavieB got a reaction from KennyS in Frame repair
TWI members alert?
Doubt you would get anybody decent to strike an arc for the price of a functional winter trainer style frame - one on Plant X right now for about £60 no idea about the sizes.
Weld prep, preheat, filler wire selection and heat input would in my humble opinion be critical to avoid weld cracking. Can we start another threads-worth of argument about weld procedures? EN or ASME? Groovy.

DavieB got a reaction from Colin McPhee in Frame repair
Colin,
George probably made his suggestion in jest but tbh you could probably pick up a cheap alu winter frame for hee haw compared to the hassle of finding somebody to repair your frame.

DavieB got a reaction from iain couttie in Night ride muirsheil
Iain,
Sounds fun, but no can do tonight. CX bike is off the road awaiting sintered pads, the ones that came with the brakes are rubbish and have worn out prematurely - a lesson learned via near death experince in Parkhill woods.
