2023 Subscriptions PaulL Posted September 19, 2017 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted September 19, 2017 I read an article about these nutters awhile back, having been thinking of doing something away from the mass Sportive next year and somewhere warm, these old lads get the famous Col du Grand Colombier closed to traffic every year in June(dates to be confirmed) for one weekend. This is not a Mass event(but will be one day). To be become a member Confrérie des Fêlés you need to compete 2 ascents in the same day, to become a Grand-master you need to complete all 4 ascents in the same day only about 5700 metres. Also there lots of other epic climbs all within cycling distance... glandon/d'uez/telegraphe etc. oh and its free... Plan would be to stay for 5 days(excluding travel time) somewhere cheap and cheerful(no 8 berth hostels) maybe airbnb with a pool? Will dig deeper if any interest? you might want to start dieting now http://www.felesducolombier.fr/index.php/english/home http://www.cycling-challenge.com/col-du-grand-colombier-2/ Iain67, DavidC and EricL

Committee Alan McLean Posted September 19, 2017 Committee Report Share Posted September 19, 2017 Almost worth it for the google translation. Cannot believe any other sport shares the depth of mangled romantic language found in french and italian sportive sites. When are dates? I love the website but cannot face wading through the verbiage.

2023 Subscriptions George Posted September 22, 2017 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted September 22, 2017 This looks good although there are a lot of cyclists going which is more than a tad off-putting. Being one of the few JWCC to have climbed over 5000 metres in one day I'm happy to pass on advice to those less experienced in these matters. My first tip would be to cease all calorific intake immediately after reading this post. 2nd tip is to carry toilet roll.
