Blowing a gale down the long exposed dual carriageways of Irvine this morning I set off at 09.03am with the hope of getting under 2hrs 10mins for my first 50 mile TT. Despite horrid interminable sections into the wind I did the 1st lap in 1hr 4mins but had a collapse & an "off piste" in the 2nd lap. Reckon I lost about 3mins due to going off course. I took a wrong turn as the Marshall on one of the roundabouts had wandered off for a pee! So I stumbled over the line in approx 2hrs 18mins. Don't know the exact time as my glutes had cramped up & I couldn't Be bothered hanging about for the results. Talking to a couple of guys before I left who said that is the windiest 50 they had done.
