KennyS reacted to Alan McLean in Bishopbriggs triathlon-
It has been a miserable spring but I finally gave the JWCC trisuit an airing at this busy event with competitors from 7-70.
After a splash round the lazy river we covered four laps of an out and back 5k bike route, then a 5k warm down jog along the canal path.
The 90 degree corners and dead turns provided some hilarious examples of triathlete bike handling skills, maybe not so funny for folk pulling themselves out of ditches. (Actually it WAS quite funny to watch.) The strong crosswind almost gave me my own HEOTBHS while descending fast on aerobars and deep section wheels.
There are usually a few bike club rejects like myself at these triathloning events but this was a full-on trigeek affair and I did not see any of the usual roadie types.
There was a super atmosphere with lots of youth and junior racers and family racing. Big congratulations to our youth riders including Heather Fleming (skiving off exam leave) and Iona and Katrina Miller who were both second in their age groups, and Sarah Bradford who was track racing on Wed,won the Bella crit on Thursday, and won her race today :banana .
I got third vet but the gap between me and the real racers in their late teens and twenties is growing fast. The elastic is going to snap this year in my last season as a vet. I've spent ten years being crushed by unemployed students with unlimited training time and now I am going to get crushed by early retirees in their fifties with UTT. (Fortunately the NHS has promised to employ me until I'm 67 so I should get a few years of really focussed training in my early 70s).
Anyway the season has started, stay tuned for more gripping reports.

KennyS reacted to chung in Main Bunch Sunday 6
Chaps, who is this "Allan M" indeed!
Well, he's a Johnstone Wheeler, he's a guy, his names Allan & his surname begin with M........ what else more can I say. Oh, he's a mate of Iain McGinty if that helps.

Mark, will be good to see you on Sunday & there's plenty of bale-out option in that route I think.
P.S Shouldn't the Sunday be the 7th instead of 6th as Billy posted. "Sat 5th Barmill"....... at least there's consistency!
Cheers

KennyS reacted to Ramsay in New Club Equipment
Taken a bit longer than planned, but we now have two good stopwatches for the club. I'll be trialling one at the Georgetown tomorrow night.
Thanks again to SportsScotland and Renfrewshire Council.

KennyS reacted to Paul C in Reliability ride 1 tour of Renfrewshire
I might struggle if PMcD is in the fast bunch so will go with the intermediates.
If rules allow it I may jump on the back of the fast bunch if and when it catches the intermediates!

KennyS got a reaction from james-maclaren in Jets training 13/1
James,
It was an impromptu run with some of the youngsters who were supposed to be on the WoSCA session
Snow put paid to the run over Fenwick so we made a quick decision to head off Johnstone

KennyS reacted to Alan McLean in Pies and pursuit-19th dec, team wanted
Hi
Yes this is a nuisance but I am taking Katie anyway so will also take my kit in the hope of a ride.
There are bound to be cancellations.
At least I can enjoy the atmosphere and spend 30 minutes on rollers and have a pie.
As Al says, assuming no rechaifage, refauchage, refucgahe, whatever, it was only ever going to be 8 laps of pain or maybe 16 if we got through a round. I think Janette has cut it to 2k.
Bonus Christmas Prize Question!
Firstly assume SC run a standard tournament knockout with no separate youths comp, refauchage thing or 3rd/4th place race.
If there are forty-one teams then how many heats must there be to produce a winner?
Answers to my premium rate phone line or post here if too lazy to phone.
Winner gets a new custom Pinarello with Di2 electronic shifting and Zipp Firecrest 202 wheelset personally delivered by Bradley Wiggins and his nan and then goes for a pint with Brad and Mark Cavendish.*
Alan
*Terms and conditions apply. Winner may not receive actual wheelset, or bike, or see Bradley or Mark. But his nan might come. (no, not really. Ed)
