Appreciate the replies gents. Alan if you could do a Thomo truck for service that would be great. Been a bit of a 'slow' response to the marshalling help call this year which I understand given Easter Saturday (thanks to those who have let me know they are not available as well) and the distraction of Roubaix for many. So last call for assistance please - let me know if you can make it. If not enough then the JWCC riders will be required to marshal (starting with me obviously - will then draw straws for who else might be required !)

Unusual race today, a race of 2 legs x 8 laps. Leg 1 into block headwind and very cautious. Leg 2 was well over 40mph each time with slight downhill and tailwind. Many short lived attacks although 2 guys had a serious dig last 2 laps and one was only caught in last few hundred metres. Bunch sprint of about 40 riders into the aforementioned headwind. Was a howler in the sense there were lots of people getting out the saddle and going for it only to hit the wind and die. Lots of clashing handlebars and sweary words. With everyone starting the sprint I thought I better go for it against better judgement before it is too late. Started sprint, hit wind, sat back down, let someone come past then started again. Ended up 7th. Chapeau Andy on best RR result to date in p17 and Colin in p31.

Was talking to your buddy Paul today, he was out running and I was out loosening the legs, we were both a tad jealous of your current location..

Leg breaker. From the 5 mile point. Field of 60, strong wind, hilly course and lots of young legs coming through from the track influence added together to make it sore. I think Andy and Colin suffered early on from the many accelerations every time the road went up. I hung on to about 25 mile point by which time I had dipped into the red at least 4 times. Then the classic of you feel just fine one minute, a hill appears and you have to go full gas but everyone seems to be struggling so thats ok, then the man with the mallet runs out from behind the hedge and gives you a swift one to the legs. Got into two or three different groups after that and finished well gubbed in P34 at 12 mins.

Being doing some research and on the brink of booking up train to Lille for Paris Roubaix. If someone else up for it I would definetly go for it.
Virgin train from Glasgow to London 6am to 11.30am on Friday 11th April. Then Eurostar London Lille 1pm to 3.30pm ( actually 1.5 hr journey but 1 hr time difference). Short spin friday afternoon. Hotel in Lille with rest of JWCC crew then train at 6am Saturday down to start in Busigny. Smash the cobbles on Saturday and enjoy some juice of the barley thereafter.
Return Sunday leaving Lille 9.30am and back in Glasgow 4pm.
    Round ticket train fares £300.
    Anyone?

Well done to Danny, what a ride and what a sprint. Iain, you were not last in the scratch race as a fair number of people (ahem) had been lapped, well done on first time in b's.
Al, I have your towel, I am making a habit of collecting sweaty things after taking Iain's helmet home the other night.

5 up TT from Bishopton to Lugton today into some stiff winds and rain. I think this will go in the file entitled 'what doesn't kill you makes you stronger ( for Arran)'
Real good blast along the coast. I intended to hold back as there is a rare opportunity for a weekend track session tomorrow, but that thought was binned quite early.
Chapeau Andy, Charlie, Lewis and Greg.
On my way home I broke a spoke in my rear ksyrium and rode home with a very wobbly back wheel.

Ok update on where we are at.

I am very pleased to advise that all minimums have been met. Up until a few minutes ago we were still short on the ladies' kit. Our very generous sponsor Thomsons Cycles have stepped in to ensure that no one was going to be left without the new Johnstone Wheelers club kit. I think this is extremely commendable act on the part of Allan and he should be duly applauded for this. I'll take this opportunity, if I may, to offer a vote of sincere thanks on behalf of the committee and the club at large. Thank you Allan.

Allan has agreed to hold this additional kit at Thomsons Cycles should anyone wish to purchase it in the coming weeks.

Just to keep everyone in the loop, the whole order will be delivered to me. I will post up details of dates and distribution when I have that information. Currently production time is 5 weeks. I am trying to negotiate a rush delivery with Pactimo, however more on this in due course.

Again thanks to Allan for his generous assistance and to you all for engaging with this new set up. I'd also like to mention the assistance we've had from our long suffering account manager at Pactimo, Raffy. She has had to put up with me making her life miserable over the last month or so and has resolved a few minor panics during the design process and during the ordering process including personally calling one of our members over a payment issue. All successfully resolved.

I'm now off for a stiff drink.

Entries a bit slower this year after getting 80 entries in 4 days last year.
So far got 37 so would encourage more to get their entries in if you fancy a 56 mile bash on a rolling circuit. Always a good race and lots of new sponsorship this year making for a lengthy prize list. Photo finish, catering etc sorted.

And its open to all categories, what more can you ask for?

And of course the sun will be out and it will be 70F.

Did Flanders on Scott with kysriums shod with my standard 23c pro race. Scott frame will not take 25's at rear.
Had no problem. Except when I hit the armco barrier and gubbed the front wheel. But that was not the cobbles fault.
Still comes under the category of 'one of best ever days on a bike'

First TT outing of the year, the clue as to how I would get on is in the title, Hilly!

A testing day and a testing course for the larger tester! Set off strongly into the headwind, got the heart rate up nicely but the 4 miles of dragging hills in the first stretch, even with a tailwind, sapped the power. Caught for 2 minutes by a skinny looking Big Ben on 5 miles, another few miles and caught by David Griffiths for 4 minutes (if he hadn't taken a wrong turn he may have won).

The top 3 of Silas, Ben and David were over 3 minutes clear of everyone else in the end, I ended up mid field in 13th, but some good hard miles in the legs for the flat courses! Took the uphill sprint finish to repass my minute man

Glad I left the TT bike and fancy wheels at home and went with the winter bike and mudgaurds, between the crosswinds, gear changes and rough road it was a bit tricky, most folk I talked too hadn't enjoyed the TT bikes too much!

Couttie finished in 16th, I'm sure he'll tell his own tale below

Well joansin boys u missed a cracking day in saddle. 10 of us out today. 9 couriers and me. Strong headwind to largs. I took the. 30 only cos no one else challenged me cos of conditions. Met Mcginty bill and Ian cowden at largs stop. After largs tough ride to ardrossan again into wind. A few riders fell by the wayside leaving me Jim cusick Lewis Ritchie and Lindsay . By this time I had given up going thru and just hung on till just after barmill turnoff when Lindsay and I lost the wheel but to our credit kept the. 3 guys in sight till I turned off at Lugton . Very slow ride home as my thighs were burning. Brilliant day

B's was rather taxing last night. Kayleigh returned with a vengeance. 2 very sore scratch races, one average over 30mph, and one even sorer points race where I and quite a few others got lapped. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger - for things like Arran

Magnifique Alan, glad I waited to see that one. Great night as usual at the track with most groups over 20 riders. I was happy to be back in the B's and comfortably midfield after finding some mojo under my bottom bracket in the past couple of weeks.

Well it was another belter with the pace high from Bishopton. Certainly the livliest this winetr. Taking into account the weather getting very grim and various bodies going to track on Sunday we decided on a W Kilbride route.
Andy, Alan, Lewis, Sarah, Colin, Darryl, loads of JWCC connections
Billy, don't let yourself descend into the hologram book of excuses, you have started down the slippy slope,
My intention was to take it easier today with track tomorrow but it was just too much fun zipping along and the lure of the Largs 30 was too much with a few bodies up for it and it was worth the effort to sneak through the wheels and nip it.
So tank duly emptied, just need a refill for tomorrow.
    Live for today I say.
