Felt fine for most of the night, hiding at the back, managed to move up to an ok position towards the end but just had no acceleration when it mattered - although for once the points race wasnt too bad (not that i scored many points!) managed to get in a breakaway and we stayed away for about 8 laps, so it felt like i was at least making a race of it, much more enjoyable that way. Went on a suicide mission in the first scratch and managed to chase down a few guys who had gone off the front but was well toasted after that for my trouble ! Then came thr points where I had a plan to position myself up the track slightly on the sprint but was met with too many protestations from another rider who then decided to completely cut me up diving in front of me with millimetres to spare so went out the back and abandoned deciding to save effort for the last scratch race.. Decided no more suicide missions for this race hung on to the wheel in front and felt much better finishing in the pack ok. 4 weeks of no racing is too long ! 2023 Subscriptions AlanT Posted January 23, 2014 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted January 23, 2014 Tough night in the D's too, but managed to pick up my first ever podium finish - 3rd - in the last D race with an epic sprint finish taking 3rd by a tyre width. Great night as usual at the track with most groups over 20 riders. Big Al Posted January 23, 2014 Report Share Posted January 23, 2014 Fantastic Alan! A reasonable return to a rather nippy A bunch. Stayed in the bunch for most of the first 40 lap scratch, ended up a lap and a half down by the end, better than about half the bunch. Got a point after leading out the first sprint for a couple of laps in the 80 lap points race, was coming over the top of the bunch in the second but didn't quite make it, gubbed by the third, out by 37 laps! 30 lap scratch to finish, brought the bunch back to the 6 man breakaway with 9 laps to go, managed to hold in the line, was sitting 3rd position behind the 2 strongest with 3 Laps to go but got swamped on the last lap when one of them slowed up, never mind!
