Hmmmmm, don't know if these are acceptable excuses.
Anyway you missed the best of the year - by a mile. At least 6 wheelers and 2 jets I can remember and about 16 in total.
Brilliant run round the usual route to Howwood. And we saw more JWCC in the shape of Bill and Iain between W Kilbride and Dalry.
Pace was keeping moving and chapeau to Lewis and double chapeau to Sarah, just brilliant to see them riding 70 miles in the cold when it usually take a few years to get that sort of stamina. The future is bright for these stars.
Wish every day was a Saturday.

Amazed to see that I finished only one position behind Mike! Hardly saw him throughout the race Only one fall which included a face-plant just after the bomb hole. Then a nasty wee ditch full of tree roots with a tree right in front saw me taking an excursion into the undergrowth. This is probably where I ripped a spoke out the rear wheel but didn't realise till afterwards. It certainly seemed a fast course, if only I could master going round corners at speed! Lots of fun though and hope to be at Irvine with or without a new wheel.

The drop down to Loch Thom and then past the golf course would have been interesting........perhaps carnage. Did your mums know you were out cycling today?

Kenny Christie and I met up on Paisley Rd W to head over to Miller St for 9.30 - no surprise that no- one else there given the cold rain!
 
We headed out up Bowfield, left over to Peesweep, Sgt. Law, down Shilford hill, across to Uplawmoor, then over the back road to Dunlop. From there over to Beith via Barrmill, then down the back road (now re-surfaced to great effect as far as the stone bridge at the first turn off for Beith) to the rear of what was previously the Hungry Monk, and on to Lochwinnoch. A welcome café stop there to heat up, then back to Morrisons, over to Houston, down the Georgetown to the Red Smiddy, where Kenny headed home over the bridge and I home via Renfrew. Almost exactly 60 miles for me and a good bit more for Kenny. There were actually quite a few cyclists out and about.
 
In truth probably a better day for the Hoydrome or the turbo, but nevertheless we had a fine run out in true winter conditions, visiting some roads not seen in a while. BTW modern cycling clothing is fantastic!

I expect to be at the clubrooms for 09:00. I'll see how the weather is shaping and see how I'm feeling. Maybe hanging on to the back of the bunch for a while is a good idea.

Can't do this Thursday but following week could work. There's always Linwood as another cx venue - we just need somewhere that people wouldn't mind the ground being cut up a bit.

After my "mare at Falkirk today I could probably do with some as I feel my lap times would have been better if i could have stayed upright. Still fun though
