Due to popular demand this thread has moved from 13th April to 20th April. For those of you unfamiliar with this ancient ritual we board the 0700 hours ferry to Brodick. Get off and ride round the island and get the next ferry back. This is the first 2019 edition with aspirations for the legendary Double Arran attempt later in the summer.

Don't be like me and miss the ferry despite living 4 miles away.

Be like Darryl and pace according to the team on the climbs not according to how Many watts you can meat out on your pals

If the ferry master approves your boarding of the next ferry then you will enter Paul McD’s Hall of Fame! You can tell stories to your children and grandchildren at they sit at your feet in wonder for many years to come!

    Who's in?

    need you ask ?
To help any new people considering this - the goal is to get as many of the team round in the prescribed time limit. This means riding at a pace that will give about 2 minutes to spare over the 2hrs 45 mins. If you are struggling to hold the required pace then there is leeway to see if you come round for a few miles, however if still struggling then the team effort takes over and there are bale out options. The required average is just about bang on 20mph. There are epic tales of people who have done it with the help of a team shove up the final big climb etc. which is always great for team building !?
Chapeau - hope there are many

I'm up for this, as long as the weather is decent.  If it's a REALLY nice day, I'd like to suggest Three Ferries.  Cycle to Rothesay for 8am ferry, go round Bute, over to Colintraive, then Loch Tarsan to Dunoon.  Ferry back to Gourock and home via West Ferry or the Clune...  circa 100 miles.

About an hour later I felt better so went out and headed for Largs in the hope of meeting the bunch at the TOP of the Haylie but of course it had to be the bottom when we met lol
Thought the spelling through into the wind on the way back was some of the best disciplined riding I've ever witnessed.  Also Cheers for the pint in Amaretto Alan, that's one I owe you

So much for club camaraderie. Was 1 minute late. Initially thought no one turned up but went round corner and saw big group in distance. Tried to catch u but head wind beat me so turned round and headed up back road to Bishopton but missed you. Met Alan Thomson on bishy hill. You nasty guys had already dropped him despite all your protestations of stick together to top of Bishy. We had s cracking 2 up to bridge of weir. Great tail wind on dual carriageway. Any way gloves are off and once I know who was in Bunch tonight no quarter will be given for rest of season
ps Archibald I I had a heart rate spike of 215 so my alarm would have been well ringing. Hope it was just the stress of trying to get to start after a hard days work

Headsets, hubs and bike building/restoration in 6 easy technicolour installments by Chung - 'nuff said.
In all seriousness, you could start at the front end and simply work your way along the bike covering all elements as you go, from setting up bars and stems, right down to the likes of replacing brake pads, cable routing and redoing bar tape. I think it would be fair to assume that for some this might seem unnecessary but to others it might be a case of answering questions they are too afraid to ask or in some cases don't even know to ask. As a suggestion, a donor bike could be used and completely stripped and rebuilt. I have a 'retired' manky steel frame (quill stem for the purists) with some parts still attached which I'd be happy to donate as a start. There might even be obsolete bikes in the container that could be used to let people get hands on with the freedom of getting it wrong. Monkey see/monkey do style seminars with plenty of practice and tips along the way perhaps?
