This is a new competition (and a new spreadsheet ) and is running alongside the Thursday nights, and is for a virtual points jersey and will give those who cant make a Thursday a chance to take part.
Every week i'll pick a strava segment and the fastest riders on that segment over the course of that week can get points - 6 points for 1st, 5 for 2nd, 4 for 3rd and 3 for 4th, 2 for 5th. 1 Point for everyone else that completes the segment. This runs Monday to Sunday and you can have as many attempts at setting a time as you like. The scores will get added to the following weeks chaingang score. The points competition is also a seperate competition that runs all through the summer so you dont need to take part in the chain gang to take part in this.
I'll try to choose roads that don't feature on regular club runs and also try and spread it out around the area so everyone has a local one from time to time. First up (for week 3 April to 9 April) is Howwood to Cyclepath Its about 1km long and an uphill drag from Howwood to the Cyclepath.

Just testing the waters on this if there isnt much interest after a few weeks i'll quietly drop it!

JaneF reacted to AlanT in Langbank Hilly 10 TT #1, Saturday 25th March
I've arranged for the weather to be dry on Saturday, so there should be no excuses.
Unless the contractor lets me down.

JaneF reacted to AlanT in Langbank Hilly 10 TT #1, Saturday 25th March
People, thanks to a general lack of interest, this event is postponed until next weekend. This will knock next weekends event into the following week, with the first of the chocolate series taking place on the intermediate Tuesday. The relevant dates are now:
Hilly 1, 25th March,
Chocolate series 1, 28th March
Hilly 2, 1st April,
Chocolate 2, 4th April.
That brings us back on track again.
On the upside, there's some good training in there

Thanks to Alan T for organising and Ginty and Alan for starting and timekeeping. First time on the TT bike in anger so a lot to learn. Like tighten handlebar bolts...
DNF for me. Well done to everyone else. Cracking wee route, and the bit I did I enjoyed.
Oh, and thanks to Ginty for the pre-ride entertainment in the form of car in muddy ditch removal challenge!

JaneF reacted to AlanT in Restricted Gear 10 TT 12th March
Thanks to Ian and Alan for timekeeping and holding and a big well done to Anthony and Alex for their first TTs. Alex a bit unlucky with the mechanical that ended his effort on the second lap, but flying on the first one. And finally, a number of PBS all round on a slightly murky, cool day. Well done all.

Yes, it's the opening TT of the confined events series. This is the first trophy of the season up for grabs to the fastest rider on the day, as well as early season TT league points.
2 laps of a hilly route with some challenging turns and a terrific descent. An excellent introduction to time trialling for beginners, as well as a decent warm up for the more experienced.
As normal, there will be a £3 entry fee, payable on the day, the proceeds going towards the costs of the awards at the end of the season.
The course:
http://www.mapmyride.com/routes/view/651582320
Meet at the start at 09:45 ready for first rider off at 10:00. The start is at the house on the Gateside road, just opposite the right turn that leads to Tandleview stables.
Volunteers required for timekeeping and holding.
I will bring some cable ties.
This event is apparently attracting some high level interest across the world.

JaneF reacted to Gerard Deeley in Reliability run 1- Tour of Renfrewshire
Warm company all of the way but cold feet to finish in the 0900h bunch going at a nice pace. Reliability fail with a puncture on the Clune that would have been worse if Darryl had not come back with his pump as I did not have mine. Ever the gentleman as these are the small gestures that make the club great.

The latest in provisional dates for this year.
Please note that the dates have been firmed up for the SCW Barmill race, the Sam Dooley 25, and the 2-up championship has been moved to 15th August, replacing one of the practice runs.

JaneF reacted to EricL in STRAVA - it's official!
As many of you already know there now exists the JWCC 'official' Strava page. This is a new page built towards the end of 2016 to provide active 'Wheelers' with a single club-managed site to record all of your rides and see posts of certain upcoming club runs and events.
The new Strava page has all of our known 'Wheelers' contact details and web links to places such as FB and British Cycling where members and joiners can find out more about the Club.
Unlike the old site the admins are controlled by Club members, more administrators can be added as required, this has enabled the posting of upcoming events and club rides. Now that we have entered 2017 you may have recently noticed details of the 1st Reliability were posted and everyone who has joined JWCC 'official' page should have received an invitation to attend. It is now possible to register an interest in joining the event by simply clicking on a button under the Group Event notice.
It would be good to have all, or most, of our current membership operating on the one Strava page, there are currently 45 members of the new JWCC 'official' Strava but still c80 on the old one. You are not obliged to do so, but if you want to receive information on club events and keep an eye on your friends (or enemies) achievements then why not join JWCC - official for 2017 and you can then leave the old pages.....it's simple...
...follow the yellow JWCC badge!
