well said Chung, was indeed a good day out and brilliant to see a real mixed bag of cyclists and ages. Agree Gerard wins the most prepared cyclist cook award, but Iain Cowdens liquid refreshment came a close second.

Hopefully we can maybe arrange a spring drum up, as agree a good idea to have more than one per year. Thanks again to Alan McBride for posting this up

Thank you all for a great day out, nice weather, good company and a bit of a hump in the road on the way over.  I hope my inept bunch riding did not annoy you all.

Nice pose in the fifth picture Chung!

Great day out in fine company from many clubs!  Thanks to Geoff and Ian L (fire setter superb!)

Fine JWCC representation and a sighting of Jamie McGahan (Glasgow Wheelers) standing quietly at the back of the fire! ( give it a Google or check out GWCC Hall of Fame).

To mark the end of the season and the start of winter time, here's a whole club run to Largs and the Bagel Basket.

Starting from the Club Rooms at 09:00 (winter time, the clocks go back the night before).

As in previous years for this run, the intention is to set of in groups of 15 to 20 with members mixed from the regular Sunday bunches, proceeding anticlockwise to the Bagel Basket, via Kilmacolm and Gourock.  After the stop we can reassemble into different groups to depending on who want to take which route back.

The outbound leg is 32 miles from Miller St., the return can be anything you want it to be, including the train if required!  The minimum return cycling is 20 miles via the Haylie Brae and Kilbirnie.
Nearer starts are possible for anyone who may not feel up to cycling all the way.

Remember the clocks go back, so you get an extra hour in bed, and mudguards on please! (but lets hope it's not wet)

Please post if you will be riding, then I can warn the BB how big an invasion to expect.

Great day with good turn out for the wheelers. Agree Carol, well done to the new guys who were buzzing after the race. Hope they'll be out again soon. Well done to james too, a credible 7th in his first race. Anyone know where I can buy some new legs.......

A few photos of Wheelers in the Novice Race, it was great to see so many Wheelers out for both the Novice and APR races, but I didn't stay to record the APR!

It's all happening on Planet Jet this week.

We are all sorry and at the same time delighted to report that Sarah Bradford is moving on from the club. For season 2016 Sarah is moving up to Team Jadan, a women's race team based in Yorskhire.

She is guesting with them this week at the An Post Rás na mBan, Ireland's premier women's road race.
This is a 5 day, six stage race covering 400km with an international field of over 100 riders.

Full race info at http://www.rasnamban.com/ including a start sheet showing some big names.

No results from this evening's opening 68km stage yet, but our spies tell us Sarah had a safe bunch finish. Keep tuned in for more!

Congratulations on the new team Sarah - but come back and see us please!

Thanks to Graham for timekeeping and well done to everyone else on a calm night for a change. The new bit of tarmac since the last time we were on this course has made this time trial almost pleasurable    Carol & Dave

Cracking day out, some glorious scenery, sunshine and great company. 1st time out with the bunch in 5weeks since the Wanlockhead beasty day out, and it really felt like it on the return leg.. Some shift at the front from McBride and Ullrich from Aberfoyle homewards, all in all 90 lumpy miles for me and legs now feeling every one of them..

The 18th running of the Paris Brest Paris randonneur start for me on Sunday 16th august at 17:45

1200 km between Paris and Brest in France to complete within 90 hours maximum. Start and arrival at saint-Quentin-en-yvelines – vélodrome national à montigny-le-bretonneux.
Organized every 4 years since 1931 by the audax club parisien. I will be among thousands of other riders from all over the world who want to participate in this mythical event in order to join the long list of successful randonneurs who have contributed to the legend of the Paris-Brest-Paris randonneur this will be my 3 ride as I completed it in 2003 in 78 hours & 2007 in 76 hours. I have only the ambition to complete it this time so will hope to finish on Thursday morning at 09:00.

If you wish to see how I am going, go to the website link below and my frame number is H217 & you should see how or not I am getting on. Let’s hope for average weather as my first was in the stifling heat & the second was on the wind & rain.
    http://www.paris-brest-paris.org/index2.php?lang=en&cat=randonnee&page=suivi_participants

To get myself ready for this you have get a comfy bike for starters, then be able to cycle 745 miles in less than 90hr at this stage I have covered over 6000 mile since my first qualifying ride in 8th march with the longest single ride being 373miles, on the wind down now only 100 mile ride at the weekend. Let’s hope the Johnstone fly in Paris. See me? See happy?

Just to remind the members that any member can post a run for the three groups
Usually some one will take on this responsibility for each of the bunches , it's not difficult all you need to do is have an estimate of the distance time of start , generic route detail and which group
Currently we have three groups 30 milers / beginners or individuals that don't have the time to be out all day, route doesn't have to be 30 miles but group will ride at a pace to suit the slowest rider
Intermediate may go a bit further , however the group will ride to stay together
Main Bunch ride may be longer and pace may be faster generally regroups at top of hills or selected points on the route a degree of self sufficiency required but you won't be left alone
Pace can increase on return to home in the last 10 miles or so
Ideally route could be posted before Wedensday night to allow riders to plan their Sunday
So feel free and post your favourite route
