Iain67 got a reaction from Codg1e in JWCC Night out date change
Please note that the night out has now been changed to Friday 12th November 19:30
Hopefully now that we are over the worst of the Pandemic, have booked a night out at Amaretto BOW for 19:30 Friday 19th November.
All JWCC members and friends welcome where I am sure there will be tall tales of cycling glories during 2020-21. Pizza and food available to order on the night and for all you athletes, liquids only 😆
Hope to see as many JWCC members as possible and if you can post up and let me know if you intend to join, I can let Amaretto know numbers.
See you all on the 12th Nov

Iain67 reacted to P McDonald in Arran again and again !
Thought it worth mentioning another astoundingly brilliant day on Arran where 5 of the 7 riders were JWCC members (although one missed the memo to wear the jersey😀)
3 new inductees to the Hall of Fame were Sean Delaney, John McGivern and Mark Cushley who are all regular Saturday bunchers, repeaters in the Hall of Fame were David Archibald, Richie Provan, Garry Dunn and myself so chapeau to all,
5 of our number finished a bit ahead and took the Island Loop KOM by a chunky margin on a near perfect day with virtually no wind. The weather was so brilliant it was a shame all we could really view was a 700x25 GP5000 and a rear hub !!
The legend grows and I see another double taking shape in my crystal ball. Get training hard because you know you want to,
Forza Arran Forever !

Iain67 reacted to XXX in Sunday 22nd Aug. Glen Friun-Glen Douglas Leg Bender
Can’t get over to verbally encourage as going to the Atlantic Bar Restaurant for early food and drink but at £11 a G&T I might be sober enough to get over on the Sunday

Iain67 got a reaction from Darryl Gunson in Sunday 22nd Aug. Glen Friun-Glen Douglas Leg Bender
Clubs rooms 09:00, Erskine Bridge 09:40. Alexandria, Glen Friun, Glen Douglas, MOD road to Kilcreggan, back round the coast to Helensburgh, then either Sinclair street or Cardross Climb then home. Around 80ish miles, loads of climbing and bail out places, so bring your climbing legs. Weather looks good for Sunday

Iain67 reacted to Codg1e in Sunday 18th July - Kilcreggan
Hi folks, 9am at clubrooms and 9.40 at the Erskine Bridge (south side) for a jaunt across the water along through Helensburgh and past Faslane to Kilcreggan. We'll join up with 30milers to Helensburgh or Faslane (depending on who from 30milers wants more miles). Suggest we keep the water on the left and we take on the Coulport climb after the cafe in Kilcreggan. Return via Glen Fruin or back the way we came - can discuss at cafe on the day. Circa 80 miles.
See you Sunday
Colin.

Iain67 reacted to Alan McLean in Sunday 16th May Kilkreggan Loop
Excellent day with coffee in sun at Kilcreggan and post-ride beers in sun at Amaretto. And frites. Argyll and Clyde coast were stunning as ever. Carman Road out of Cardross and the little steep ramp over the railway at Old Kilpatrick (which I see now is named Thistleneck) provided some late hill action. My first real bunch ride since Feb 20.

Cracking run this morning. Really glad I bailed after Glen Fruin with a smaller bunch back round the road. Legs are totally shredded now. Cheers for calling the run Iain.

Will likely tag along as far as Helensburgh/Rhu or thereabouts (as long as its dry lol), need to be home sharp on Sunday. Great route though! Worth phoning ahead to the cafe at Kilcreggan (if its open!) to let them know how many cyclists are coming, perhaps call when stopped at Erskine Bridge - I recall the service there has historically been a bit hit n miss lol.

Iain67 got a reaction from DavieB in Farewell
Hi Davie B, was so sorry to hear this news and always seems to happen to life's goods guys. I have some great memories riding with you pal as you were always one to hang back and offer a word of encouragement when I was dropped by the bunch (A regular event). Have some great memories of Marmotte, Flanders and Liege and all the rides we did in Scotland over the years. Even remember you fixing a broken chain to get me home.
God bless pal and hope the treatment goes well. Hope to see you back out on the road and sending you best wishes
Iain C

Iain67 reacted to George in Main Bunch 23/08/20 09:30am
3 out today and rain come on as we stood, majestically, outside the club rooms. We sacked the leg bender in favour of track to kilbirnie then over to Largs. It hasn’t changed much since last week. Sodden & frozen by time we got there so agreed it’d be a wizard idea to go home the way we came. Home, drookit and straight into my monthly bath.
Not many folks turning up for club rides, despite my selfless and Herculean efforts to keep the club alive. Is there anywhere anyone fancies going?

Iain67 reacted to Mark O in Cafe stop connoisseurs
Was introduced to a very nice and very cyclist friendly cafe this morning called the Heron. Located on the eastern most reaches of the transmitter hills route (detour may be applicable). Worth a google for the discerning cyclist ‘cafeista’. Heron cafe and farm shop out between Glastonbury and Strathaven.

Iain67 reacted to P McDonald in ARRAN
Another very memorable Arran, in this case it was bigger than childbirth, bigger than wedding day, this was the mighty SA for my gal Laura. First female in Hall of Fame so pretty special one.
I reckon with Jan and Andy we've got the pacing down to a T, this was the smoothest SA I've done, no rush, no stress just an incredibly even paced ride, and thanks to the guys for a fantastic day out and their total commit to the team effort. If she didn't make it abundantly clear, Laura is truly made up and very grateful for this life experience.
The first hour in early morning was truly magical with very little wind and incredible views down to Ailsa Craig.
Roll on the next guided tour of Arran from your dedicated hosts Jan, Andy and me, would be a pleasure to get more inductees through the summer.

Another Single Arran in the bag and the first woman on the hall of fame. Well done Laura 😁
Less than ideal wind conditions with a strong crosswind for much of the west coast but the pacing was spot on and we made it to the ferry with time to spare.
