Fantastic racing from our younger riders with several podiums.

Danny Mulholland, 3rd in B boys, Sarah Bradford 2nd and Katie McLean 3rd in A girls. :banana

Luisa Steele just missed out, 4th in the bunch in B girls and Lewis Mulholland held on in a ferocious final lap for 6th in A boys.

Guys and Girls, as winners in 2011 and runners up in 2012, it would be great to see a big turn out from JWCC to see what we can do in the 2013 Georgetown Cup. Don't forget the Georgetown Pie, which was won by the Johnstone Shielas in 2012.

This years Georgetown Cup takes place on Saturday 7th September and will be in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Charity..

It would be great to see all the clubs sending out a team this year- it's a great event and the 'inter club' aspect makes it a lot of fun. Last year it was host club Glasgow Couriers who took the honours but we already have a massive entry from bronze medalists Fullarton Whs along with the largest club entry in event history from Glasgow Green CC.

Dont forget , the format remains the same - enter as many as you like and its the fastest 8 from each club on the day that makes up the teams time.

Last year also saw a closely contested battle for the coveted Georgetown Pie - the defending champions from 2011 , Walkers CC, felt sure they had it in the bag - even bringing along their own knife to share out the spoils- but they hadn't counted on everyones favourite team - The Johnstone Sheilas , who dug extra deep and pulled out an abysmal performance to lift the award.

Once again we will be holding the Flying Scot Rally - so dig out your vintage bikes and bring them along for the display. Martin Wilson took the prize for fastest Flying Scot last year and will hopefully defend his title but rumours are circulating that big George McCarter is intending to mount a challenge....

Last year we raised a whopping 1500 for Accord Hospice so lets see if we can match that total this year and have a bit of fun while we are at it!

hmm, as paul said, the track is not the place to find your fitness. Turns out he's right.
Having said that the third race, scratch I think, I was starting to feel good (not awful) and sitting on a wheel when there was an odd noise somwhere.
At this point, I should have gone up track to avoid what was obviously a crash about to occur. Oddly, it didn't occur to me until the next day, track novice A wee bit of help.
So, once the three in front of me, including colin were scattered to the winds, I saw a gap, great, but as you already guessed, gravity caused the rider to slide down, fill the gap and I went over him. The velodrome roof looked great between my knees as I performed a beautiful parabola and landed on my head. I know this because the remains of the cote d'azure were left on the top of my helmet. The inner helmet is cracked all the way through to the shell.
Bottom line: glad I was wearing a helmet. Enjoyed the night though.
The Joansin' performed well in all races.

A rather good night at the track in the B group, a 1-2-3 in the 30 lap scratch for Paul, Richard and myself, a 1-2 for Rich and I in the 25 lap scratch, and also a 1-3 in the points after blowing the field apart. 'A' Group for me next week, I think Richard should come and play too

good turnout from jets from A to E.
windy day with exposed courses both with decent straights and tight turns. Plenty of supporters, with good view of courses.
Isla McCutcheon had good race on new bling white Islabike, 3rd in girls U8. Jamie Thomson 2nd in boys U8 but nowhere near Paddy Barnes from Glasgow Riderz, next time? Keir Gaffney had a good outing in the U10 and Fraser Thomson kept going in the U12, a fast race. In the U12, Hamish MacLaren had a great race, always within a few wheels of the front and finished 3rd not far off a very good Alfie George from Discovery.
Cannot comment on the U14 and 16 but saw the Mulholland lads, fresh from overseas stage racing. Hope I didn't miss anyone out
With option of vets circuit race, I went for lunch

Got signed off by Doc this week. he told me it will take a few months to get leg back to anything like normal but he suggested that if I had a bike I should start easy cycling as non load bearing. THINK I CAN DO THAT DOC!!!

Ha. Ian I agree about the 10lap scratch. I was coughing for about 10minutes after that. Thought I was finished. Anyway success for me was two consecutive races not being dropped! Even managed a sprint (sort of) and a few laps off the front waiting for Alan who didn't realise it was me. I was all for taking a lap. Yeah right.
Summary: not fit enough but great fun. Martin made disparaging remarks about my lack of souplesse, more like a sack of tatties.
Try again when it restarts :-)

    thanks chung,
doing well, was spotted at Nove Colli by Sky and currently acting as domestique de luxe for wiggo in secret training venue. I think I might take him round the top of the world, he is looking for variety after the monotony of Majorca and Tenerife. I'm sure you understand.
Anyway, bike is rust free due to occasional forays, to work and back. hope to get out with bunch sometime soon....

Can't believe it will be two years tomorrow since Jim passed away. It feels like no time at all since we were last riding round the coast or over the bridge together, or indeed sharing a coffee or driving to a race. He is still missed.

I hope all that are out on their bikes this weekend take a moment to remember Jim.

A club run has been destroyed, bunch etiquette is dead, and the key to this mystery lies with the only survivor and his twisted, convoluted story beginning with five lycra clad loons in a seemingly random exercise in half wheeling.
