Richard reacted to AlanT in Confined Events 2020
I have attached the schedule of confined events ( and some open ones) for the coming season. Confined event awards are open to all club members, and are an excellent way to introduce new riders to the mysteries and dark arts of Time Trialing.
This year, I have introduced 2 new courses for the League of 10. One is the Hilly course, and the other the restricted gear course at Gateside. These will be one of events within the league of 10, which will be mostly on the Westferry, as normal.
If you want to give TT-ing a shot, these are the events to try.

Richard reacted to AlanT in Boxing Day whole club run
Great run out today. Turned out the BBC lied to us about the weather, as it was dry but cold. Not a huge number of riders out, around 14, which splintered a bit before Bishopton, but the rest of the run was steady and pretty sedate. Refreshments at amaretto's were very welcome.

Richard reacted to Elaine Muirhead in Sunday 24th November
Great wee ride today with Karen, Fiona, Boyd and Alan. Headed to Bishopton, Port G, Kilmalcolm and home. A few wee extra detours to throw in some extra hills thanks to Alan. We even helped (sort of) the local farmers to move their sheep! Nice to see Iain for coffee in Kilmacolm.

Richard reacted to Frank in Been there, done it, would like to do it again.....
Hi Guys,
Having spent the last few years working abroad, I've now retired and returned home. Not wanting to turn into a full-blown couch potato, I'd like to re-join the mighty Wheelers. Assuming you may actually let me back in, can someone advise on how best to go about this please?
Cheers,
Frank

Richard reacted to stuart10ant in Club Hoody Sizing
Hi all,
I have been in contact with PSL in Hillington about supplying new hoodies.
I have arranged to get a small, medium and large sample for sizing and will arrange to have a sizing night at the clubhouse once i know when they will be available.
The hoody design will be the first image below (yellow inside the hood) with embroidered club logo and print on the back as shown on the second mock up. We will also do embroidered initials.
Prices are still to be finalised but looking at around £25.
Cheers

Richard reacted to AlanT in Joe Brunetti Hill Climb Championship, Sunday 29th Sept.
Ladies and gentlemen, the final confined event of the season, the Joe Brunetti Hill Climb championship. This is a whole club event, with the Elliston Castle Road being closed for the duration of the event, so a good turnout is appreciated.
In recent years the main club has gone off first, then stayed around afterwards to cheer on the Jets, and this year should be no exception. Following the event, riders can go off on runs to suit their ability and leg conditions.
First rider off at 10:30, registration from 10:00. Once you have registered, you need to wait around to get your start time, generally around 5 minutes before the first rider goes off.
I can confirm that I have a copy of the Road Closure notice, which I will be putting up on site on Friday 20th.
Some volunteers are required to assist with putting out signs, timekeeping and holding, and then recovering the signs and moving the barriers aside once the event is complete.

Richard reacted to AlanT in Hill Climb #2, 10th September
The 2019 club hill climb championship will take place on the Elliston Castle climb, which will be closed for the event. If there's a desire in the club to change that route for the future, raise the suggestion at the AGM. I will look at the suggested routes, as well as the likelihood of actually getting a road closure.
Obviously, we can't ask for a road closure for the Tuesday night events, as that would really inconvenience the local residents.
