RyanF
I have had to withdraw from the Fred due to a dodgy knee. Iain Couttie is taking my place for digs and ticket.
2023 Subscriptions George Posted May 1, 2017 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted May 1, 2017 Ryan, that's a pity. From reading the bumf the organisers sent it looks like entrants have to provide photographic ID at sign on. Given that you are at least 40 years younger than Coutts & considerably better looking than him this could be problematic. They may be reasonable tho. Suppose Iain could ride anyway-it's not closed roads. Coutts, no offence but you are old & ugly. RyanF

RyanF
Cheers, thankfully Nothing serious. Under normal riding it doesn't bother me but standing up which i am sure i would need to do a lot of on the Fred it gives me jip.

2024 Subscriptions Darryl Gunson Posted May 5, 2017 Author 2024 Subscriptions Report Share Posted May 5, 2017 I'm thinking an 8 start should be good. Maybe a bit earlier say 7.30? Thinking that 8 hours or less is a reasonable time for such a crack squad, so that would be a 3.30 finish. An hour or so refuelling and collecting medals etc and we should be back home for 7. ginty001 and DavidC

Given the Casino closes at 6am, that gives us an hour and a half to get freshened up and get some breakfast, sounds like a plan .. 2023 Subscriptions George Posted May 5, 2017 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted May 5, 2017 I haven't been to a hostel in 30 years so don't know how much they have moved on, if at all. When I went you had to do chores in the morning & you kept your food in an open rack in the kitchen. So I'm wondering, do they do breakfasts or is it a case of having to go out the night before a kill a squirrel with a bow & arrow?

2023 Subscriptions thejanullrichdietplan Posted May 5, 2017 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted May 5, 2017 Good luck everyone looks like a cracking weather forecast! After about 90 miles you'll see Hardknott snaking up the hillside in the distance - the next few miles will amongst the toughest you'll ever do (partly because the previous 90 miles are so tough!) but once you get through the next 20 miles to the finish then pretty much nothing will phase you on a bike for the rest of the year. Worth keeping an eye on tyre pressure due to the nature of some of the descents. Im sure you all know that already though.
