Ryan, that's a pity.

From reading the bumf the organisers sent it looks like entrants have to provide photographic ID at sign on. Given that you are at least 40 years younger than Coutts & considerably better looking than him this could be problematic.

They may be reasonable tho.

Suppose Iain could ride anyway-it's not closed roads.

Coutts, no offence but you are old & ugly.

I'm thinking an 8 start should be good. Maybe a bit earlier say 7.30?

Thinking that 8 hours or less is a reasonable time for such a crack squad, so that would be a 3.30 finish. An hour or so refuelling and collecting medals etc and we should be back home for 7.

Given the Casino closes at 6am, that gives us an hour and a half to get freshened up and get some breakfast, sounds like a plan ..

The casino does breakfast & gin can be used as shower gel.

I haven't been to a hostel in 30 years so don't know how much they have moved on, if at all.

When I went you had to do chores in the morning & you kept your food in an open rack in the kitchen.

So I'm wondering, do they do breakfasts or is it a case of having to go out the night before a kill a squirrel with a bow & arrow?

Good luck everyone looks like a cracking weather forecast!

After about 90 miles you'll see Hardknott snaking up the hillside in the distance - the next few miles will amongst the toughest you'll ever do (partly because the previous 90 miles are so tough!) but once you get through the next 20 miles to the finish then pretty much nothing will phase you on a bike for the rest of the year.

Worth keeping an eye on tyre pressure due to the nature of some of the descents. Im sure you all know that already though.

- not even a DA, it will be a scoosh after the FW

Paul, the single Arran put years on me- I'll leave the doubler to the younger/fitter & old enough to know better.

You fit into two of those categories 😉
