Really, really enjoyed that, in spite of the cramp and the wet. Good shakedown trip for my shiny new Scott. I would have posted earlier, but I was cleaning it......

Hard, but fun night all round. Missed the cut by a place in the first C/D race, in the 1st Keirin was in prime position and starting to attack when the front man had a spectacular off right in front of me at the bell, voiding the race (for the record, I crossed the line first), made a poor change in the third race and came adrift with 7 laps to go. Managed to get back in the bunch with 2 left, but had no energy left. Finished last in that one. Managed a 3rd in the last Keirin and the last scratch race.
5 races for a tenner isn't bad going.

BC membership required but you can race on provisional licence. I was looking for a route profile to see what course is like.

Have any female members spotted the Womens Road Race 2014 in Glasgow on 10th May, on the British Cycling website? Anyone interested in riding it?

60 places still left, 40 miles, think BC membership may be required but not sure. There's a link on the Glasgow Green CC website: http://www.glasgowgreencycleclub.co.uk/pages/page_26605/Womens-Road-Race-Series-2014.aspx.

While limping back from my kicking in the bogs bunch I met Jess Millar out solo tonight on Barochan Road getting in the hard miles before Youth Tour of Scotland. Looking super pro on shiny carbon bike.

We have four Jets in YTOS, they are all very fast, and I am REALLY looking forward to the race reports.

Appreciate the replies gents. Alan if you could do a Thomo truck for service that would be great. Been a bit of a 'slow' response to the marshalling help call this year which I understand given Easter Saturday (thanks to those who have let me know they are not available as well) and the distraction of Roubaix for many. So last call for assistance please - let me know if you can make it. If not enough then the JWCC riders will be required to marshal (starting with me obviously - will then draw straws for who else might be required !)

    Hi Guys,

Who would have thought that our first month as main sponsor would have passed so quickly.

I just wanted to write and thank you all for making our first month so memorable. Martin and I have been simply blown away by the overwhelming support and the volume of new JWCC faces we have had visit us in the shop over the last few weeks.

It's been amazing and we hope to see you all again and welcome many more of you all over the coming months.

Feedback is important to us and we would very much like to hear your thoughts good or bad on how you found us and how we could improve or indeed what you liked about your visit to the shop or the work we did for you

Looking forward to the working with you all over the season and looking forward to the Jim Daley and follow up JWCC Launch afternoon/evening in the shop on 19th April.

    Cheers guys

    Allan

They start on the 2nd as far as I know which is Wednesday, unless they've gone ahead early?

Was going to aim for Thursday next week for number two, if they were still there and people were keen?

Unusual race today, a race of 2 legs x 8 laps. Leg 1 into block headwind and very cautious. Leg 2 was well over 40mph each time with slight downhill and tailwind. Many short lived attacks although 2 guys had a serious dig last 2 laps and one was only caught in last few hundred metres. Bunch sprint of about 40 riders into the aforementioned headwind. Was a howler in the sense there were lots of people getting out the saddle and going for it only to hit the wind and die. Lots of clashing handlebars and sweary words. With everyone starting the sprint I thought I better go for it against better judgement before it is too late. Started sprint, hit wind, sat back down, let someone come past then started again. Ended up 7th. Chapeau Andy on best RR result to date in p17 and Colin in p31.

Good racing today! Eight laps of a 5 mile circuit. Strong headwind made for slow going heading north on A77. Lots of moves and breaks which were mostly closed down on the southerly stretch. Andy Prenelle clocked 50mph in the following car. Followed Paul's advice and stayed towards the front end particularly for the roundabout turns. All Joansin safe in the final bunch. 7th for Paul, 17th for myself. Not sure about Colin's place but well up. My best finish yet and I had energy to spare today. Hoping this bodes well for the season!

Finally got up the hill today, back Sunday so just in time, it's not all it's cracked up to be ,long slog 2200 mtrs so not a lot of climbing compared to Majorca . Bloody cold at the top though, 7 degrees. You just cycle up and then come down again, an hour and a half not pedaling gets boring. Met a Glasgow green rider half way up. He dropped me after a few miles.

Worth doing but not any more exciting than doing the Healy 20 times.

Looking forward to Tuesday chain gang.

The latest up date as to delivery fresh off the emailing thingy. My earlier post was based on the no can do a rush order and the dates discussed last week. The good news now reads -

    Hi Mark,
At present the estimated shipment date is 8th April 2014. You will then need to add about 4-5 days for travelling.
    Thanks
    Raffy

We might have kit in place for the Jim Daly Memorial. Will miss P2R but that was always a serious possibility. Will keep everyone posted.

Thanks very much for all your efforts on behalf of the club to organise and coordinate the club store and new kit. Thanks to Allan too in stepping in to purchase additional kit ensuring minimum numbers are met for production.

I think the kit looks really great and a really nice refresh!

I have the cheaper 3 bike Thule carrier without the quick attach/release. It works well and once you get used to the screw on fixing it only takes a couple of minutes to attach.

Positives include its solidity and if you buy the desperate lock (basically a nylon cover that spins, it's a pretty secure structure to lock bikes to. I personally like the fact that you can see the bikes in your rear view mirror and that you don't have to clamp the downtube.

Downsides include the basic nature of the tilting mechanism to access the boot. This can require a bit of force to release. The nylon straps used to secure the wheels are instantly lost if you forget to secure them then drive off (perhaps more user stupidity than a flaw). Finally, good luck in getting 4 bikes on, depending on saddle heights etc I've had difficulty getting three on. It can take a bit of working out and I have had to remove or spin saddles 90 degrees in the past to get them all on.

Despite the flaws, it would still be my first choice - upgrading to the quick attach style if I was feeling flush.

Ok update on where we are at.

I am very pleased to advise that all minimums have been met. Up until a few minutes ago we were still short on the ladies' kit. Our very generous sponsor Thomsons Cycles have stepped in to ensure that no one was going to be left without the new Johnstone Wheelers club kit. I think this is extremely commendable act on the part of Allan and he should be duly applauded for this. I'll take this opportunity, if I may, to offer a vote of sincere thanks on behalf of the committee and the club at large. Thank you Allan.

Allan has agreed to hold this additional kit at Thomsons Cycles should anyone wish to purchase it in the coming weeks.

Just to keep everyone in the loop, the whole order will be delivered to me. I will post up details of dates and distribution when I have that information. Currently production time is 5 weeks. I am trying to negotiate a rush delivery with Pactimo, however more on this in due course.

Again thanks to Allan for his generous assistance and to you all for engaging with this new set up. I'd also like to mention the assistance we've had from our long suffering account manager at Pactimo, Raffy. She has had to put up with me making her life miserable over the last month or so and has resolved a few minor panics during the design process and during the ordering process including personally calling one of our members over a payment issue. All successfully resolved.

I'm now off for a stiff drink.
