Great news for club organised riding from TOMORROW
Scottish Cycling has updated our Level 3 Guidance which comes into effect from Monday 26 April.
Adults (18+) and Under 18s may travel locally or to another Level 3 area to take part in organised sport. Transiting through multiple Level 3 areas on a ride is permissible. Scottish Cycling strongly recommends a maximum group ride size of 9 for organised club group rides from unlimited households based on the retention of the physical distancing requirements from Level 4. Events for Adults in a Time Trial format may take place, with physical distancing before, during and after competition.   It is currently anticipated that the whole of Scotland will move to Level 2 on Monday 17th May. At this time, it is expected that we will see the requirement for Adults to maintain physical distancing during sport to be removed, and expect to see further changes regarding group sizes for Events. Further information to follow in the coming weeks.   The revised guidance document to follow is here 👇 https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/zuvvi/media/SC_Guidance_L3_A4_23.04.21.pdf

Short 20km meetup on Wednesday. Select TT bikes for this one so no drafting.
Course is Tempus Fugit and we roll out easy for the first half until we go round the big roundabout - the start of Fuego Flats reverse segment is shortly after this then it is approx 7km and flat to the end of the segment. Results based on the time on the segment leaderboard. After this a couple of km still to go to cool down.
If using a road bike to try to gain advantage by drafting then you get a 2 minute penalty!

I have the 830 which is basically the 530 with a touch screen. Went for the touch screen as it makes scrolling about a map for off road riding a bit easier, but for road riding would have gone 530.  Battery life is excellent, about 20+ hours.

After the disaster for club events that was 2020, I have uploaded the provisional calendar for 2021. There are a couple of caveats though.
    1. All club events remain suspended until further notice. In practice, this means that I fully expect that none of the scheduled events will actually take place until after Easter at the earliest. There is at best a 50% chance that the schedule will run normally after July.
    2. Just because an event is on the calendar, do not assume that it will take place unless a thread is opened specifically for it.
    3. Events that do not take place will not be rescheduled.
    4. Events that do take place will be run in accordance with the most up to date SC/CTT guidance. Where there is conflict between the two bodies, we will always support the stricter regime to ensure your safety.

I hope everyone has a great season, when it eventually gets going.

And actually, I've ignored rule 3 above...

thejanullrichdietplan reacted to EricL in Covid Update 04/12/2020 - Ride restrictions
Another update has been published by Scottish Cycling today, well spotted George, I've lifted the extract below directly from the SC website and invite all members and social cycling friends to take the latest information on board. There is also a handy note on what differentiates an informal ride to a formal one.  Another update will no doubt be along soon enough! With thanks, Eric.
What has changed in the most recent update?
The latest update to the Protection Levels Framework was made on Friday 4th December 2020. This update included the following:
For informal cycling, at Level 3 and 4, the Travel guidance was updated to: 'travel is permitted up to 5 miles outwith a Level 3/4 area to start your ride, as long as your ride starts and finishes in the same place. At Level 3 and 4 for organised (formal) cycling for Adults (18+), an additional statement was added to the Travel section to provide the following clarity: 'club activity (such as group rides) must remain within the boundaries of the Local Authority'. In the Coaching and Leading section, changes to what is permissible with regards to the delivery of British Cycling Education courses across all Levels. Detail of what is permissible at each level is outlined within the Protection Levels Framework. What is the difference between informal cycling and organised (formal) cycling activity?
Informal cycling is defined as cycling where there is NOT a Covid-19 Coordinator involved in the planning or delivery of the ride. Activities falling under this category, must comply with the restrictions which exist within wider society for outdoor socialising.
Organised (formal) cycling is defined by the involvement of a Covid-19 Coordinator in the planning or delivery of the ride. Activities falling under this category, are able to take place with bigger group sizes as outlined in the Protection Levels Framework.

Great to see so many Scots starting to make the break through onto the world stage now - perhaps the most impressive thing is it is across various cycling disciplines - track sprinting, track endurance, road racing, TTing, cyclocross, cross country mtb and downhill mtb.

We have now received the latest guidance for cycling activities.
There are significant changes, and much to absorb, in the attached documents.
The documents contain all of the information relating to the SG publicised Tier Level structure per local authority. For now, we should focus on Tier 3 guidance. One interesting development appears to be the ability to cross local authority boundaries. That said, the restriction for club rides at Tier Level 3 looks like max 6 riders, from unlimited households (up to 6). Social i.e. non-club rides are permitted at up to 6 riders from 2 households.
Please click on the links at the foot of this message for full details.

    Scottish Cycling
Following the introduction of Scotland’s Strategic Framework, Scottish Cycling have updated our guidance for cycling activity to reflect the level of activity which can take place within each protection level. Protection levels for local authorities are reviewed on a weekly basis and the level applicable to your local authority can be found here
The Scottish Government has recognised the importance of Sport and Physical Activity to supporting the nation’s health, and, while this is extremely welcome, we must all play our part in ensuring that we adhere to the guidance laid out in this document – all of which has been approved by sportscotland, the national agency for sport, on behalf of the Scottish Government.

There used to be a leaflet about it - it was a pilot project and IIRC  Kilallan, Corsliehill, Warlock and Chapel Road were the ones on it. There were plans for a lot more but that was over 10 years ago and i've not heard anything since.
