Dont know how the APR races ended but here are some photos. At half way point Charlie was making a right go of it in a 2 man break off the front with about 3 mins back to group 2 including Paul and Colin (and Garry and John) then Richie (and Scott) another couple of minutes back in group 3 with the scratch just about to make the catch by the looks of things

chung reacted to AlanT in Whole Club Run 6th October
Slightly later than planned, the last opportunity for a whole club run this summer. Meeting at Amaretto's at 9:00, rolling out around 09:15, to Largs. The favoured route is Georgetown, Bishopton, Westferry, Port Glasgow, and round the coast to Largs. Options for those feeling a bit more energetic are via Loch Thom. Options for those feeling less energetic is a short cut via the cycle track direct to Port Glasgow.
The intention is for bunches of mixed abilities, with stronger riders sitting on the front for longer spells
After the café stop, it is suggested that the groups break up into their natural ability groups and there are a variety of routes home. (Brisbane Glen, Healy Brae, West Kilbride).
Post up if you're coming so that I can give the Bagel Basket a heads up on numbers.

Thanks for the company today guys n girls. Six set off from Miller St, Anthony, Jaki, Tommy, Bill T and Katrina and battled to the Haylie Brae through a strong headwind.
Katrina headed home as the rest made our way into the Bagel Basket for coffees, cakes and scrabbled eggs (eventually Jaki).
Brisbane Glen on the way back, where we left Bill to make his own time. The sun came out and Loch Thom is spectacular in its exposed isolation.

chung reacted to thejanullrichdietplan in Hill Climb #2, 10th September
I'd keep the hill climb champs on the Elliston as the closure makes all the difference - the narrow road and blind bend are only issues during the confined events because of the potential for traffic.
Maybe use some other hills for the Tuesday nights but i suspect at this time of year the turnout is going to be less anyway due to the weather and reduced daylight hours.

chung reacted to AlanT in Hill Climb #2, 10th September
The 2019 club hill climb championship will take place on the Elliston Castle climb, which will be closed for the event. If there's a desire in the club to change that route for the future, raise the suggestion at the AGM. I will look at the suggested routes, as well as the likelihood of actually getting a road closure.
Obviously, we can't ask for a road closure for the Tuesday night events, as that would really inconvenience the local residents.

Excellent fast riding to Aberfoyle and return by top of the world. Me, Charlie, Glen,Tommy, Eric, Colin and Alan T.
I only joined hoping for a quiet nature-filled ride but Charlie's medication had worn off and he wanted to ride paceline for 100k and attacked every hill.
Oily fun after Glen broke his hanger and had to ride home on 52/16 or similar. Climbed out of Strathblane on this. Massive power, well done and funny to watch cadence of about 10 uphill.

Five out today, myself, Carol, Morna, Colin and newbie Dave F on his first bunch ride.
Route was Georgetown to Bishopton via Dargavel Village to Monkeyhouse. West Glen to Kilmacolm and loop back to Finestra Cafe and met Iain McGinty just back from Largs. After coffee and cake headed to Lochwinnoch and then back along track. Only one shower throughout the 40 miles and a good introduction to the club for Dave F.

Thank you to everyone who helped out today. The event went really well and we had some great rider feedback about the day. Just in case, if anyone notices any of the signs still up then let me know.

Great ride! Met chung en route to the bridge, met John and Iain there. We cycled to Garelochead where we split. Chung went up Glen Fruin to Balloch and home from there, and John went to Kilcreggan in the hope that the ferry was running... it was! Iain and myself carried on to Arrochar where it started raining literally as we started to climb the Rest (we had a very small tailwind up - every little helps!). However nothing really came of it and we had a wee coffee and some food at the top before heading down the main road towards Strachur. We stopped for a bite to eat at the old wee pub/hotel on Loch Eck (nr the caravan park) which was really nice. By this time the wind had died down and it was a straighforward run into Dunoon for the ferry back. Sore legs kicked in for me going along the A8 but we persevered and got home at the back of 3. Decent day out, cheers guys!!
