Well, I was surprised at the result too - thought the best I could hope for was 3rd, but I wasn't really paying attention. If Lewis thinks he won it, then he's probably right

Would love a return to the Alps or Pyrenees but the Stelvio is definitely on my to climb list.

Port de Bales is an absolute cracker went up it the year after the tour visited so had pristine tarmac, the views and atmosphere (cowbells ringing and birds of prey circling) are absolutely stunning and beat the Tourmalet for me.
 
I know the dates don't suit some but we should really try and get a club outing to the high mountains of the Tour or Giro some time.....iconic places.
 
BTW the coobells were round' the necks of coo's not in some madmans hands.

Another great night at the track with Billy, Paul, Alan and myself flying the flag for JWCC. Also in attendance were three Jets. It was a new format with As and Bs getting the chance to ride the Keirin! All acquitted themselves well: Alan - 3rd Devil; Paul 3rd Keirin; Darryl 1st Scratch; Billy - big sacrifice to lead me out . The Jets, especially Lewis (1st in everything he rode, I think), were as usual, awesome

I use it for commuting on unlit roads. It performs admirably, in fact on full beam I get flashed by oncoming drivers, best to have it slightly pointing downwards.
Alot of MTB types swear by them too.

As an alternative to the Fred (and half the price!), may I suggest this?

It follows almost the same route as the Fred but cuts out Kirkstone (and the 8 mile terror of the A66!) and replaces it with Dunmail Raise which is a decent climb from the Eastern side.

I plan to put the 2013 race on entrycentral tonight. I will not announce on Braveheart until Friday night so y'all have plenty time to enter, it might fill up quite quick as I have had a few inquiries already.

Duncan and I were at the refurbished Commie pool in embra for the New Year's Day Triathlon.
 
Yes, the year was only 12 hours old, the party goers were still staggering home through Holyrood but Duncan, me and three hundred others were smashing it for 400m in the pool, three times round Arthur's Seat by bike and once on foot.
 
Cool, damp but sunny.
 
Nice big crowd of hungover passers by and the come on daddy brigade lurked by the bottom roundabout to wince at my TT bike handling skills on the 180 deg roundabout turn. I stayed upright, others didn't.
 
Anyway got a PB, a sixth overall and second vet but was given the sympathy prize for 1st vet cos the guy that beat me was 2nd overall. I just love the one prize per person rule.
 
So, who's next? Track league on 9th?

Utterly brilliant session, I'll send a note of thanks to Brian and Gordon for the excellent and innovative coaching.
The idea of ' secret' objectives for the scratch race was superb for getting everyone involved in a team mission.
I'm going to try booking through the SC route as I'm sure we could open to Fullarton, Ayr, et al to make up a similar session.
