Darryl Gunson reacted to P McDonald in Velo 20
Astonishing debut by Fergus with 3 wins and a second in the D group.
And great performances from Big Al (win) skinny Al (2nd) and Billy (2nd and 3rd) in C's
And Lewis with a 2nd in B devil.
Not too sure of jets results as was warming up whilst they were racing.
Last week next week before a break, hope to make it

Darryl Gunson reacted to P McDonald in let the chaos begin
Intervals, intervals and more intervals. Better to have good base though.
1 min on 1 min off something like 2 sets of 10 mins. Intervals at 90% max heart rate or your power equivalent.
30 secs on/off slightly more effort.
Full on sprints for 15secs each minute on the minute. 2 or 3 sets of 5.
Then start combining sessions into one longer.
Must have good warm up. Must have full recovery between sessions which for the more experienced gent would be a couple of days min if done properly.
Short sharp and sore road to short term fitness.

Sounds splendid, sorry I'll miss it, we'll maybe not that sorry as I'll probably do the Costa Blanca equivalent that day before watching Paris Roubaix.........

Very generous offer George will send the bill.
No muddies on good bike, so will hang fire for two weeks until that magical change of clocks when Scotland becomes tropical.

Darryl Gunson reacted to Scott D in Vaujany Sportive France
I would be interested in this also (especially le Vaujany as I've not tried that before, but maybe Trophée de l'Oisans if others are going to la Marmotte).
Done some research, and it looks like the only guaranteed way to get a place for la Marmotte is to register for le Trophée de l'Oisans (139e). Price sounds stiff until you realise la Marmotte is 60e and le Vaujany is 37e. The other 2 events (l'alpe d'Huez TT and la prix des rousses 40km, worth 30e total) you could skip if you were not staying in the immediate area.
I reckon you could commit to le Trophée, and if you were worried about climbing legs could opt to do the shorter distance on 1 or both events on the day. For example, le Vaujany and la Marmotte both go over l'alpe d'Huez.. and the only difference between the 173km and 109km Vaujany course is a loop around l'alpe d'Huez. So you wouldn't miss anything as you would go up l'alpe d'Huez the following weekend with la Marmotte.
See http://www.sportcommunication.info/web2010/epreuve2.php?langue=2&trophee=81
Regarding accomodation, its always possible to find something in bourg d'oisans, but more realistic would be the cheapy IBIS in Grenoble with a room price of 40e per night (up to 3 persons) combined with vehicle hire to the start.

Done that! a couple of cracking climbs and a frankly terrifying descent off a goat track behind Alpe D'Huez.
Free croissant at the start too!

Worth a read! http://www.bbc.co.uk...nology-21716686
The second paragraph states "Two deaths have been linked to the service." What they haven't mentioned is that a serious knee tendon injury has also been linked to the service, which has resulted in the rider not even sitting on a bike for two and a half months, more than likely leading to a second missed race season in a row!

Had a bath, cleaned both bikes and have not moved from the couch since!
Loved the ride, wrong turn opened the gate for next group which we tried to chase. Think it was a moral victory for Billy!

great run, hope my stamina picks up over the next few weeks, even if i blow i love it ! fantastic pace,i dont think paul mc speedo works under 30mph, you can see him tapping it and then deciding that the only way to power it up is to go faster.
liked the new bike billy hope you have lots of good miles on it.
