So looks like 7th June, 7am for the inagrual One.Fiver, this is a one point five laps of Arran in 4h15m and will require an average speed of 18.4mph.
The average speed is reduced but, and it is a bit of a but, the challenge goes over the Ross twice. Dependent on wind that might mean two times up the steep side of the Ross ( bit like dark side of the moon )
The roads to be covered are leave ferry head for Lamlash, over the Ross, turn right along to String and back over to Brodick. Left at bottom of hill and full coastal route until the Ross turn off and head over in reverse direction back to Brodick.
Nae problem to the single loop hall of famers ( which I can confirm after lengthy consultations and court proceedings does include Mark and Colin )

14th June. A stepping stone to the full double. 81 miles in 4.25 hours = 19.1 mph. Dosn't sound too hard, don't be fooled, it is. Based on a slightly extended figure of 8. The heavy roads, twists and turns and uphill down dale nature ensure this will be a leg bender. There are bale out options for punctured tyres and lungs Saturday has the most ferry options so thinking the usual 7am start.
Holo, I know you will be there in 3D spirit but I accept your apologies in advance for not being there in physical matter.

A lot of the back roads on the graveyard side of the transmitter run have been resurfaced. Including the graveyard climb itself - its a pleasure to ride up it now.
Still delirious when I wrote that.

Quite happy with a PB today, 20:55, joint 6th overall on a slightly windy and chilly morning. 30seconds behind Ben who won it, 24s off Iain Grant and Peter Murdoch

Just to mention that due to the great generosity of Thomsons in supply the prizes there are some surplus funds from the race on Saturday. And so the club coffers will benefit with an input of £150

    Guys/Girls,

While frequenting our favoured watering hole with the main bunch in Largs at the weekend, Mr Bagel Basket (Dennis) advised me that he has placed a couple of inner tubes, tyre levers and pump behind the counter at the cafe for club members' use, should anyone get caught out with more flats than they can handle.

I think this is a fabulous gesture by Dennis and one we as a club should acknowledge by continuing to drink his coffee, eat his cakes and leave his fixtures and floor soaking wet when we leave. Dennis has mentioned on more than one occaision that he, Laura and the staff do enjoy our custom and give the place a real buzz when we turn up. It's good to know we are most welcome at the Bagel Basket, whatever condition we turn up in, and the club's general friendliness is appreciated beyond the cycling world.

Hard, but fun night all round. Missed the cut by a place in the first C/D race, in the 1st Keirin was in prime position and starting to attack when the front man had a spectacular off right in front of me at the bell, voiding the race (for the record, I crossed the line first), made a poor change in the third race and came adrift with 7 laps to go. Managed to get back in the bunch with 2 left, but had no energy left. Finished last in that one. Managed a 3rd in the last Keirin and the last scratch race.
5 races for a tenner isn't bad going.

Legs felt good today then when i saw alot of the fast young guys were missing (presumably with junior tour of Scotland coming up) i felt quite confident of making the breakthrough tonight in the Bs.

Shouldnt have counted my chickens though as there was not enough A riders tonight and too many B riders to fit them all in the same race, so two combined a/b races and i was put in with Davie Lines, Andrew Whitehall, Callum Watson and a couple of others. Wasnt too bad to start with but when the hammer went down with a few laps to go it blew things apart, was just about hanging on but someone drifted down and i had to ease up slightly that meant i lost the wheel and it was game over. Next up was a Kieren, didnt do great then it was a B group only scratch where i attacked with a couple of laps to go and managed to get either a 2nd or 3rd. Another Kieren next managed a 3rd in this however there were only 5 riders in that one so it was also 3rd last! Finished off with another A/B race when the split happened i had just joined the end of the line after taking my turn so completly the wrong place. Riders in front were pulling out meaning i kept having to try and close down gaps by the time things calmed a bit there was a group of 4 about half a lap ahead and a small chasing group which i was about 10 metres behind but just couldnt get back on, eventually got lapped by the 4 in front then chucked it with a couple of laps to go. Painful night but was enjoyable as well because the race programme was a bit different to normal.

Some good results from Alan tonight although i suspect he is just as pleased with avoiding crashing into a rider that went down right in front while they were both in the middle of a sprint. Very impressive save!
