2023 Subscriptions George Posted July 20, 2015 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted July 20, 2015 Any ideas? Â Galston was good for a change as we seem to do either Dunoon, Largs or Troon to death. Â Must be other unexplored routes & destinations.
DavieB
George, Â If you take fussing about destinations as the start point you are approaching the issue from the wrong angle. Â Plenty of cracking roads dotted all over.....they just tend not to lead anywhere much. Â D

alexb
How about a trip to Ayrshire Alps? Or, to Dunoon heading over the ferry at Colintraive to Isle of Bute and round to Rothesay and ferry back? (A few dots of the route to firm up but some decent quiet roads)

alexb
92 miles all in. Club rooms to Gourock via Gleddoch climb, Dunoon up past Loch Tarzan, down A886 to Colintraive, back half of the Rothesay APR to Rothesay (possible short cut here to save 15 miles), Wemyss Bay to Largs, over the Haylie Brae to Kilbirnie and track back to clubhouse. alexb
Tom, it's 9 miles in so around 0830 at Gleddoch.  Was looking at ferry timetables.  Gourock to Dunoon is 0900 or 0930 (most likely 0930!)  Colintraive is on the hour and on the half hour (costs £1.65)  Rothesay is on the hour (except at 1510 - cost £5.15)  Cheers,  Alex

alexb
Lovely ride today. Great scenery, very smooth tarmac from Dunoon to Colintraive, and good company. Even the weather was kind with only a wee shower at Wemyss Bay.
