White bread for the quicker releasing carbohydrate, fat for slower burn energy, animal protein to start recovery sooner. Just make sure you also add some tomato gel for vitamins for the perfect workout fuel.

Check out the tasters sessions that are being organised, they will be a great way of meeting people and getting to know which group would be best for you to go out with.

Thanks to Iain and Eric.
Tough on the way out. 6km/hr faster on the way back for the same power!!
24:47 is a new PB for me.

Hi there,
I've been cycling around Renfrewshire for a while now and I'm interested in joining 'the bunch' for a run over the summer. Are there any evening rides? What's the best way to get started?
Cheers,
Ali

Thanks very much, Eric and Iain - you saved me from the turbo trainer tomorrow!
I'll transfer the £9 handed to me to the club's bank account.
Good effort, folks!

You need to know the route (we go off individually every 60s) and you need a bike and the £3 entry fee. No time limit. Usually only 6 to 8 cyclists. Very casual. The meeting point is underneath the M8 right on the Clyde. We will talk you through what you do. Probably best get there earlyish.

I've never done this before. What do you need is there a time limit?

Gerard Deeley reacted to chung in Sunday 10th July - Duke's & Loch Katrine ....
Wet to begin with, wet at the end & flippin wet in between :-) But the company & good spirit kept us going & despite the weather, we saw a lot of cyclist on the road - mostly GGCC though.
We even managed to bumped into Big Allan McLaughlin, KarenG & PeterG just before the Crow coming out of Fintry, perfect timing as he was just putting air into his puncture repaired tyres. A wee chat after & we left them to head towards Killearn for a cafe stop having just finished the Crow themselves. Hope you guys/gal didn't get too wet!
Thanks to David, Eric, Iain & Paul for the wheels & company as usual!
I'll be missing in action for a few weeks, so I'll see everyone when I'm back then - happy cycling!
Cheers

Wet, but we still managed to roll along at a decent pace with enough climbing thrown in to satisfy. Back in time for TdF and tennis as planned. Chung took the climb to top of Crow Road, well done, Paul back out after holidays, Iain after being 'on it' last night, David out for second soaking this weekend! Now, where has summer gone?

Ok it was wet! David C, Chung, Eric and Iain C headed of for a tough run in the rain up to kilearn over the crow and a welcome toastie in campsie. Nice company on a fairly miserable day 😀

Gerard Deeley reacted to Ian Archibald in updated jwcc events ?
How can we coax Ian McTavish, Paul McDonald, Alex Baird etc to put on some clip on bars and enter the Club Champs 10 miles? Also I'd like to have a go at a 4 man TT up the GT (Richard, Alan, Me and Jan?) to get a Strava time under 15 minutes. Could we hijack a 2 up GT event?

Thanks to the gang of 4 for the support. Yeah, tough headwind going out, and I wasn't feeling up for it, particularly, so well chuffed with the PB.

Gerard Deeley reacted to chung in Sunday 10th July - Duke's & Loch Katrine ....
Hi all,
I'm thinking a wee jaunt for a lap of Loch Katrine this Sunday considering I'll be off the bike for a few Sundays, so fancy a longer one before that.
Obviously this is weather dependant & so far weather forecast for Sunday is O.K, but I'll post up alternative if it gets poor
Planning a relatively early start ....... say 8.45am at the bridge or 8am at the clubroom.
Appreciate if you can post up if coming out to play :-)
Anyway, will decide final route near the time & all/any company welcome!
Cheers

Well, that was a great ride, thanks Charlie for the route & the new café - a first time for me, shame I didn't get to taste the cakes, it looks good too
I had no idea where I was most of the time even though I wasn't that far away from home :-) All I know is that my bike had turned brown thanks to the lovely Ayrshire roads, it's good though as it gives me a legitimate excuse to wash & buff it up again!
Thanks for the wheels & company today as usual guys/gal, especially to Alex for letting me play with his new toy - Sram Etap, space age technology man!
Good to catch up with a few old faces - Davie & John whom I've not seem for quite a while.
Typically, the sun came out just as I got home
Cheers

Hi Graham,
My troops are away so I'm home alone, I plan on coming down & can help - more likely to do the holdy-uppie duty as I'm not that confident with the stop watch.
Cheers
