    Alan M,

You'll be struggling with the club kit store due to there being no access to the store for anyone other than me at the moment. Pulling the new items together with Raffy at Pactimo at present. Keep an eye on this thread and on the members announcements section. I hope to have the store open very soon and will provide step by step instructions as to how to use the site.

Jodyc got a reaction from GrahamF in 27th april - Main bunch run with intermediate and 30 miler bunches welcome!!
    Hello everyone,

Thanks for one of the best days I have had on the bike. A friend from work (Michael) joined us for the ride today and from his experience and the friendly atmosphere, not to mention Chungs sales pitch I think we could have a new member.

With Drumlanrig fast approaching I have been trying to get the miles in but with other distractions lengthy runs were few and far between. Maximum of 58 before today.

Set out this morning with the intention of meeting the rest at the bottom of the Clune but we were making good time and got to the Ferry in time for the 930 one. Didn't have to wait long to be met by an impressively large bunch.

Once on Dunoon I, and 5 others opted for the middle route, there was a climb before splitting from the main bunch that I think just about killed me. As I reached the top and everyone patiently waiting Daryll was taking a pic or video of me approaching. If you can PM me this (just to see the look on my face either happy to have made it to the top or happy to be alive.

The long slow drag towards Strachur was pretty brutal but rewarded by a high speed decent which we all thoroughly enjoyed.

A wee cafe stop and then back down the side of Loch Eck. Thanks to Paul and Andrew for their long spells at the front and helping with the run back in to Dunoon.

Once back in Gourock it was a quick run along the A8 until we left the other 4 at the foot of the Clune. Michael and I headed back to Renfrew via Bishopton. Ended up with 93.7 miles on the Garmin. Made me feel a lot better about Drumlanrig next week.

Greg, great idea about the run and hope as a club we can do this type of thing more often, also a thanks to everyone for making my friend feel so welcome, he's been raving about it since.

Putting it into perspective, I'm still gubbed today! Only got the three races this week too

Looked at the Gordon Arms 20.5m TT results, Stuart beat me by 4.5mins brought down to 1min, Gary by 3mins down to 14secs, Jon Clarke beat me by 22secs, beat him by 3.5mins.

Moral of the story? Go faster in the Gordon Arms next year!!

Chaps, I have a tip - bollards are tougher than you imagine, so try to ride round them!

Seriously though, my tip of the day would be to put a "Chain Catcher" on to avoid dropping your chain.

Bad luck with your new tyre puncture, Allan! I suppose its better to have t now than on the day

Track is simple keep pedalling and remember the slope on the banking is exactly the same on the black line and at the top of the banking
Always look over your shoulder before moving up and down the track
Put a bit more pressure on your pedals when moving up the track and a bit less when moving down the track
    Lastly smile it's enjoyable

I don't have a garmin but if you click on the route that you plan to ride the click 'Action' there is the option to 'Export' as a GPX file

I bought this last year and it had been absolutely fantastic, to be honest sometimes I get flashed from drivers because of how bright it is. There are three settings, full beam a bit dimmer and flashing.

Just incase it's any use to you as it's a bit cheaper than the Cateye and I think Maplin are selling it for about £65.

    Dear Richie,

You are obviously suffering from SAD. This can be treated by splashing out on some new kit.

I checked with Pactimo & they can do you a nice onesie in JWCC Colours-

Just the thing for a cosy Sunday morning, watching the hollyoaks omnibus.

They don't do washing up gloves tho so you'll have to stick with your pink ones.

Jodyc reacted to chung in POSSIBLE NEW CLUB KIT DESIGN
    Dear JWCC members,

We would like to inform all members that Tom Hill & myself have taken on the task of possibly looking into getting a New Design for our club cycling kit.

However, we though it would be a good idea to utilise local design talent in this creative process rather than just relying on the suppliers "limited" input.

Therefore, we are running this as a "Design Competition", inviting local design school students to summit their work so we can choose the "best" design to be used as the blueprint for our new club kit.

To further entice the student to participate, we will be offering the Winner & 2 Runners up of this competition with cash rewards which have been generously donated by our very own philanthropist - TOM HILL.
So, if in the near future, you're wearing club kit that rivals "Rapha" then you all should know who to thanks! :-)

We have yet to contact the students as they're still on holiday, so once their term starts we will proceed with this.
So, in the mean time I'll try and report any progress as much as we can to keep everyone up dated on this matter.

    Cheers

    Chung

Another good run out today in fine company - more good base miles! Six of us left Miller St.; Andrew, Boyd, Bill T, Chung, Jody and me.

Out along the Georgetown and round the coast to W Kilbride, where we had a cafe stop, some food and much needed heat up! Jody, without much recent time on the bike, was going well and left us at Inverkip to return via IBM. We were caught and passed by the Renfrew bunch around the Cloch and caught up with them again at the communal comfort break at Largs (JWCC much in evidence). Some of us had benefited from last week's miles, with Bill taking long pulls at the front down the coast and Boyd firing along at an admirably efficient cadence! Back via Dalry, Kilbirnie and the track into a cold easterly headwind. Just over 87 miles for me and a bit more for Chung for sure.

Thanks to all for the company and again working well together.

My whereabouts next week-end are a bit uncertain but I'll post again midweek - hopefully we can keep a Saturday run going for those it suits.

Another good day on the saddle with 90 miles on my Garmin, good solid winter miles I think.

Good to see Jody back out again after a period of absent due to the new arrival of Wee Harry, well done & congratulations Jody!

P.S the cafe in West Kilbride was really good, another one in my list definitely.

Perusing the web when I should really be out training, I happened upon this nugget from the scottish circuit race championship.

play the video and watch for the joansin man who clips a pedal and brings an innocent competitor down.

I love the guilty glance over the shoulder before skulking off!

    Can you name him/her/it?
