2023 Subscriptions thejanullrichdietplan Posted June 25, 2015 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 25, 2015 Anyone interested in a longer than usual club run on some less familar roads on July 5th?Thinking something like down to the Mennock Pass and climb up to the golf ball / radar station (the pass itself is a tough climb which a few will have already done on the Drumlanrig sportive route but you can continue further up on a service road that is closed to cars but accessible by bike). It is the second biggest climb in Scotland just a little less than the Bealach na Ba and would be about 125-130ish miles there and back from the clubrooms.Route would be something like the Braes to Lugton - Fenwick - Galston - Sorn - Cumnock - Sanquhar - Mennock Pass - then either retrace that route or make it a loop with Leadhills - Abingdon join the A74 (there is a cycletrack on this) - Lesmahagow - Strathaven - Eaglesham - Barrhead See route here: https://www.strava.com/routes/2668194I dont know alot of these roads so if there are any other suggestion for a better ones? Mark O Posted June 26, 2015 Report Share Posted June 26, 2015 Would be up for this but not on the 5th. Lesmahagow to Strathaven route quite good - main road shadowing the M74. Usually light traffic. There's a reasonable route from Strathaven (really good point for a food stop if necesary) via Glassford and Quarter back to my neck of the woods via EK or you can skirt round the south of EK and head straight for Eaglesham.
