    Guys
On a serious note the lack of bunch riding skills was evident today especially into the wind on the Westferry the pace carried from 20 to 15.5 mph all that does is increase the chance of crashes as frequently I had to apply my brakes to stop running into other riders
Some may say so what but it was a reliability ride and we all should be able to ride in a bunch but maybe some development is required
    Simple fixes
1 ride close to the rider next to you not 3 foot apart
2 frequent changes makes riding into the wind easier
3 When changing outside rider inform inside rider that your moving across inside rider ease off a bit outside rider do not accelerate just stay at same pace and move over when the space becomes available
Simple maybe we could try it

    Dictionary definition of insufferable is.........

MacB taking a 30 sprint on a marginal incline after being led out for a full 5 miles by an outstanding mini train consisting of a skinny bloke with no kick and a super vet who had dragged himself off his sick bed the week before.

PS officially, there was no squeal of delight emitted as the line was crossed. Any rumours to the contrary will be denied.

This is growing arms and legs (no pun intended). We have gone down a certain road regards the process of the design of the club kit after what seem to be an eternity just getting to this stage. I, therefore, see no point in diverging from that path at this juncture. The time for talking about talking about kit design is past and it is time to take some action, otherwise we'll never make any progress. Mul's point regards professional design input is valid. It has been addressed. Jane has a degree of knowledge and expertise in this area which we have utilised to great effect in my opinion based on what I have seen produced. We will have professional input to the final design for the suppliers. Please see Chung's very clear explanation of the process.

As decided by the committee there will be no on forum viewing or voting on the designs - this is a private, in house matter for members and not for general public consumption. Sorry if this puts individual out we cannot meet every single person's individual requirements. The intention is not to be difficult or prissy about this but I am being firm on this point in order to keep matters progressing. I have the beginning of April in my sights as a target date for new kit being delivered, not ordered. Friday 31st is the only opportunity to view and vote on the proposed designs unless the committee direct me otherwise. Apologies if this does not suit the entirity of the body of the kirk.

    To all members,

The committee have been looking at the question of a new design for club kit. At this point we have arrived at a short list of options, - a handful of new designs including a freshening up of the current kit.

The committe are well aware that it is not possible to meet the sartorial preferences of all members but are of the view that members should still be afforded that chance to have their say on how the kit looks.
To allow all club members an input in selecting the look of club kit for the foreseeable future we are having an open evening at the clubrooms on Friday 31st January 7.30 pm - 9.00 pm, at allow you all to view the proposals, comment and nonimate your favourite, by way of secret ballot.

While we do value member input we recognise the need to come to a decision and act on it with a view to having new kit available by the spring. The open evening will be the only opportunity to look at the proposed designs comment and vote on them. This is your chance to influence matters. Based on the outcome of the ballot the committee aim to make a final decision in early February with the result being notified to members thereafter.

Hope to see you all then

1st Sunday run of the New Year. Woooo! only 4 weeks until he first reliability of the year.

Almost full Coast in reverse (if icy we'll revert to the normal route heading for Bishy first)

Depart Miller Street 09.15 as the mornings are still darkish. Proposed route is

Track to Lochwinnoch then main road (A737) to Beith, turning for Gateside and then Barrmill. Top side of the Barrmill circuit and onto Kilwinning and the 3 Towns (Stevenston, Ardrossan and Saltcoats) All steady pace! (high teens in line with of late)

Up the coast thru W. Kilbride, Fairlie and onto Largs. Pace here will be upped slightly - not daft speeds but brisk (20-25 or thereabouts) on the flats with a tail wind no doubt. Longer turns for stronger riders but keeping the bunch together. Habble into Largs if safe. Expect to work a little and hang on if necessary from Fairlie. If we go through Bishy first the the pace will go up after the climb at Wemyss Bay.

BB for cafe stop, then steady again up the coast as far as the Westferry and Bishy. Stronger riders to the front on the Westferry with the aim of maintaining a strong but NOT eyeballs out pace, with a regroup if required at the roundabout before the climb up to Bishy. Habble at Bishy if desired and if legs allow.

This is NOT a training ride, it remains a club run with the bunch keeping together and the usual rules for mechanicals, hill top regroups and bust riders being brought back to the bunch applying. The aim is to allow the regular main bunchers a good run but at the same time let those training for sportives, events or racing a bit of a work out without it all falling to bits on the road. It is intended to be only marginally more challenging than what we've been doing of late and completely doable for all those that have been out regularly during Nov and Dec. This is in no way a ride people off the bunch and into the ground exercise.

I'm intentionally being pedantic and spelling this out so that everyone knows what is happening. If you're fit and going well expect to work for longer at the front but not necessarily harder. If less fit expect to work a little harder than of late but on shorter turns and to be looked after and sheltered as necessary.

    Who is riding?

    Skinny

PS Charlie, no route changes will be considered, so there!

I intend feed back everything to the committee at our meeting w/e 6th January. Hopefully a decision then as to supplier.

Change to kit design - wholesale, tweak or leave things as they are still to be decided. I have always had a March/April delivery date in mind.

Big thanks to all those that came along yesterday evening and lent a hand. Real good progress made. I'll attend to the final gloss work over the next few weeks and final touch ups once that slacker by the name of McGinty finishes the tiling.

To all intents and purposes the clubrooms are ready for use for turbo/roller sessions, circuit training etc. The facilities are there for the use of the members, so use them but have a care and look after them. Treat them with a little respect and leave them as you find them. If anything does need attending to post up or get in touch with Ian or myself.

    Thanks again

For those who can make it, Cafe Siempre will entertain us from just after 6pm until 8pm on Thursday (5th) evening. A chance to get familiar with what's on offer in terms of fabric and quality, to try on for size bits and pieces of kit and ask questions.

I'll be there for the most part. I'd appreciate feedback on this positive and negative, so feel free to post up your thots. This will also give you fellow members some idea of what's what with regards to Pactimo.

    Cheers

Yes. mark gets an A plus for acrobatic ability after his chain pinged.
Must have hit every inch of his undercarriage on bars, stem & crossbar as he struggled to stay on his bike.

The comedy gold that followed as he re-assembled what was left of the chain outside the chainstay made the wait most worthwhile.

Taking photos of his gaffe as he tried to remedy it was rather poor form too but I just couldn't help myself

Hamoc award already done & dusted

Does anybody know how to put a chain on ?
Apparently you run it outside the chain stay
Well you do if your Name is Mark O
He's been eating too much lately and although he will say it's the gym work and his massive power it is actually his excessive weight that caused his chain to snap and then the demonstration on how not to put your chain on

Ritchie we have pre emptive entries so anytime now for entering. I'm going to enter and ride on the day but do the run at a more social pace and enjoy the scenery. That's my thinking for now, not ruling out getting sucked in on the day and putting in a shift. We'll see.

Ok folks, to head off the usual comments about sizes, I'm looking into the options regards a new supplier. I have already crossed one or two off my list from feedback from other cycling clubs based on their collective experience.

I hope to organise a evening whereby members can try the fit of whats on offer and see the quality etc. I'll post up details as and when these are available. This shouldn't stop those wishing to order kit advising me of what they want. Bear in mind the cut off date - just to keep a lid on things. Also, to keep this thread as clean as possible, if you have advice for a fellow members could you PM that advice rather than posting on the thread.
