DavieB reacted to martin in Farewell
Davie,
Logged into the bunch for the first time this year and shocked and stunned to see your post at the top of my feed. thank you for sharing with us.
Can only echo the words and affection shared by others in the memories above. Here's a couple to add: SantaCross at Mull in 2011 (your concession to santa costume just showing through your helmet) and with a breakfast swally at LBL in 2015. A connoisseur of campag and belgian beer.
very best wishes, mul

Sorry to hear your news.I am kicking around on my MTN bike if you fancy some slow company. I have had loads of fun on the trips we did together. Best of luck. Hope to see you on some paths. The E bikes are amazing by the way.

Hi Davie B, was so sorry to hear this news and always seems to happen to life's goods guys. I have some great memories riding with you pal as you were always one to hang back and offer a word of encouragement when I was dropped by the bunch (A regular event). Have some great memories of Marmotte, Flanders and Liege and all the rides we did in Scotland over the years. Even remember you fixing a broken chain to get me home.
God bless pal and hope the treatment goes well. Hope to see you back out on the road and sending you best wishes

HI all, swithered over posting this at fear of being a bit ostentatious but lately find being open and honest having a cathartic effect and don't want to just disappear into the ether. I won't be rejoining or out on club runs anymore as I have been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Still to start chemo but the future does not look too bright in terms of time left and quality of life and just really hoping for a year covid free in the camper van and have just ordered gravel e-bike so trying to meet it head on.
Bit ironic to be hit with this as just really got mentally over having cancer when I was 8 following some counselling early this year - this kind of explains my somewhat distant nature and always being on the periphery of things. As George said recently if you need help get help just talking about things can really help.
Anyways enjoy life, free yourself from power meters and just ride your bikes.
A final request I have found looking at photos of happier times helps so if anybody has any photos of trips which feature me I would be grateful if you could send to [email protected] as I would like to create some photo books for when I am no longer around.

DavieB got a reaction from gregbalden in Sunday 19 Jan 2020 - Reverse full coast
Greg.. keep it up and we may actually get back to having a normal main bunch weekly ride...however life is too short to put up with crap coffee.

agree with Davie. The coffee in the BB is very poor. I’ll be trying the bean scene place in future (next to the loos). Or possibly Nardini’s on the quay.

You should be fine with the main bunch all the way.......you go at a good enough pace and make an effort so the bunch should slow to your pace when/if you start struggling.

DavieB got a reaction from Iain67 in Sunday 18th, main bunch, any bunch?
Weather was actually not too bad unlike my decision to go down the other side of Brisbane Glen and absolutely cracked on the Whin...limped home.
Good to see you got some miles in Iain.

Colin..the coast road is not for me...was thinking more country roads but would be happy enough going over Fairlie moor to Largs via Howwood and back road to Kilbirnie.

It does seem to be following a familiar pattern of cracking week, not so cracking weekend.

DavieB got a reaction from al yuille in Mental health awareness
All the best George...very brave to speak out and I would hazard a guess that your feelings will be familiar to a lot of people, to one extent or other, either 1st hand or with someone they know and perhaps love.
One of the things I love about the bike is the feeling of freedom and just "switching off", making it into a competition just erodes this.
Keep on riding.....hint it's even more enjoyable without a computer.
Davie.
