I'm not sure if Adam's effort gets him a junior prize but I'm sure someone will confirm this in due course. Nonetheless a fine effort from another of our amazing youngsters.

A vote of thanks to Colin, Alan and Ramsay for assisting on the timekeeping front. Thanks also to Chung for holding up duties and Ginty for looking pretty on a corner. A good turn out to support this end of season event.

Why don't you just organise your own cycling holiday Alan? The planning (buying maps, working out your route, finding places to stay and so on) is half the fun. I used to go cycle-touring quite a lot before my kids came along. I did go on a couple of commercial cycling holidays but the ones I planned myself were the best.

If you're really not keen on the DIY approach I'd recommend you start with the CTC:
    http://www.cyclingholidays.org/tours/index.php
...their cycle tours are organised by genuine enthusiasts, i.e. people who are doing it mainly for fun rather than profit.

As some may or may not know i have recently got a new job, and shall shortly be moving away!

I have been with the club for 7 years come September. This club and its extremely generous, helpful and friendly have been very good to me. I cannot thank the club and its members enough.

I'm off to work in the prison service in Inverness so I'll be a short distance ( to say the least) away. So my last club run will probably be this Sunday 31st, and probably a Thurs the week after.

Because the club and it's members have been so generous to me, I am going to donate my TT bike to the club, for the committee to then donate it to a club member who is looking promising in time trailing or a club member who is in need of that helping hand to get started with some racing. Unfortunately, it will not have wheels and a rear derailleur. This was a poor decision from me to borrow it of myself to keep myself on the road through the winter. But it's a start.

So I'll round this off with a MASSIVE thank you to this club and all of its members, past and present and I hope not to stay too far away from the club.

    Greg.

AllanC reacted to KennyS in WoSCA Youth Crit Championships 2014
Some really heavy rain made the conditions at Larkhall for the WoSCA Circuit Race Championships extremely challenging but that didn't stop the Jets getting onto the podium

Isla had some pretty hard luck on the second last bend of the last lap as her brake cable snapped. Just as she was sitting on the eventual Winner, Daisy from East Kilbride's wheel! Who knows what might have been but it was great to see Isla get back on her bike and finish the race to take the bronze

Next up were the Youth D's with all of that Crit work at St Mirren on a Thursday night paying off for Keir as he also climbed onto 3rd place on the podium

Youth C's next and it was very tense at the front of the race as four Boys got away early. Corner after corner they fought each other on a wet course before Hamish McL took silver

The Youth B race seen a first lap crash involving Lusia (no injuries) who was straight round to the pits for her lap out. An ever-improving Adam had a strong start and was mixing it at the head of the race as Lusia rejoined the bunch. The race split in the wet conditions with Adam still to the front of the race but narrowly missing out on the podium at the finish. In the girls race it was a case of riding to the finish safely for Lusia as she had opened a sufficient gap from her rivals to take the title of WoSCA Youth B Girls Crit Champ.

The Youth A race was always going to be the biggest challenge in the worsening conditions. The Jets were represented by Danny, Gemma and Jess. Danny spent the race near the front of the bunch as the navigated the slippy bends whilst Jess and Gemma fought their own battles further back. As the three lead boys came into the chicane before the final turn Danny made his move for glory. Unfortunately, one of the other riders lost traction and slid off taking Danny and the third rider down meaning that neither of the trio finished on the podium

In the aftermath, Jess rode strongly to the finish to claim the
WoSCA Youth A Girls Crit Champ with Gemma taking silver

Thanks to the EKRC for organising and to all the officials and volunteers for braving the elements

All in all a really difficult night's racing. Well done to all who took part and Congratulations to those who climbed onto the podium

I'm interested in trying some mountain biking. Now, I have no experience and I only own road bikes.

What I'm suggesting is one Sunday or any other day ( week days also) a trip to glentress. Bike hire seems to be around £20. obviously those with bikes can take them. Car shares also to keep the cost reasonable.

Is there any interest for this?

Hello! I'm going to be joining for the first time - again provided that this downpour has stopped!

I cycle regularly and consider myself to be in good shape, but never cycled in groups or did long distances (I'd consider 30 mile long). Also I only have a mountain bike, so I should probably say sorry in advance if I can't always keep up the pace! (especially going uphill...)

Anyway, looking forward to tomorrow. I'm new to Johnstone so it'll be great to meet the local crowd.
