Sunday 14th Sept - Full Club Run

I'm proposing another full club run for Sunday 14th, as a farewell to the summer.

To keep things simple, I propose to use the same format as before, which seemed to work well - a ride down to Largs, up the Haylie Brae and back to Miller Street via the track from Kilbirnie in 2 or 3 mixed bunches at a steady almost social pace. Cafe stop at the bagel basket as per normal. From the Largs those wishing to go stretch their legs - more miles or faster pace can feel free to do so.

The run is open to Jets who can do the distance (60 milesapprox) and can nominate a responsible adult - parent or a willing senior - to accompany them. Mul or other Jets coaches, could assist with this bit?

The idea is to allow the various groups to mix, experience what riding with stronger more experienced riders is like and for those experienced riders to pass on their knowledge. It might be an idea if you have a friend who is thinking of joining the club or just cycles but hasn't thought about joining a club to invite them along.

Finally, this may prove to be a good oppotuntiy to get some contemporary photos of you all for the website showing off the new kit, something Alan C would welcome, so be prepared to get your piccy taken - any budding photographers out there?

09.00 (or thereabouts) departure from Miller Street

It would be good to see a large turn out for this, so who is in?

Certainly wouldn't be a skelfie according to word on the street G.

Hagen Daas and Tunnock's share prices still holding strong; a fat dividend expected I hear.

Tut. An unwarranted attack.

Sus,

You're more than welcome to join, it's an all member and/or potentially new member ride. For this type run the group your are in will generally ride at a pace everyone is comfortable at, but mid to high teens would be normal for as an average speed, added to which the route is pretty flat. You'll be amazed at how much quicker you can ride when being towed along by stronger riders. Just don't be afraid to shout out if the pace gets too much - this is a club social, not a Thursday chain gang and no one will get dropped and left on their own.

Climbing the Haylie Brae - a right of passage. The hard bit is at the graveyard and round the bends, after that its just a steady drag. There's always a regroup at the top.

I aim to be out.

Alan T was doing a good job of recruiting at the track league so there might be a new member coming along too. If any other potential new members are reading this thread then this ride would be the ideal introduction to the club.

We'll organise the bunches on Sunday morning. It would be good to know in advance however who is riding, especially those jets not riding the youth TT champs and might be looking to ride and who is riding as their designated responsible adult.

One bunch or two won't matter a great deal. Would be nice to have a good turn out as a bit of a curtain call for the summer.
