    Hi All,
Its been a while since I wrote anything on the bunch ..... so, I thought I would start again 🙂
I think this would be a good place to start :-)
A bunch of 8 met at the clubroom for David's wee tour - Bill, Carol & David, Carol, Frank, Garry, Tommy & myself set off for some back roads!
It started out a bit on the cold side but David soon got us warming up as the climbs started early ..... which kind of set the tone for today! But back roads does not mean bad roads, on the contrary.... some of the minor roads David had planned were in fact in much better conditions than a lot of the main roads. Whats not to like, smooth road with NOT much cars at all! Well done, David! 🙂
Some of the roads I'm sure was new to some of us & certainly for me ..... or at least not been on for quite some time.
We stayed as a bunch through out & even up the climbs .... ok, maybe the occasional "attackers" stretching their legs a little when the road goes up a bit. But nobody was getting too far ahead since no one, except David knows where we were going 😎
It wasn't long before we got to our designated cafe just outside Stewarton, this place never disappoint, tasty fresh baking & friendly service ..... we had to fight for the last remaining 3 fruit scones amongst ourselves ...... so to keep harmony & peace đŸ€Ș, I opted for a full scale lunch instead (even though it was only 11 am) & left the scones for othersÂ đŸ€„
Fed & watered ..... we made our way back to Johnstone with a more usual & direct route ..... brilliant & fun descend down the Bowfield! Then David suggest a wee detour to Bridge of Weir before we finish today's run off 👍
Thanks to David for organising & everyone else for the wheels & company ...... I had a good time today!
Cheers all & thanks for reading 🙂

A nice wee grouppetto of 6 headed for Largs, cake and coffee. Present were: Robbie Gunson, Alan Thomson; Darryl Gunson, Stuart Tennant, Dave Ferguson, and old JWCC legend Marco van Whitehead. A wheel about was had over the top of the Haylie Brae.
Bumped into another ex-wheeler Gerry McCartney on the track as well as current wheelers Andy and Alan.
Another good day on the bike

I would have been down first if it was not for a pesky puncture on those stupid council road blobs that pass for maintenance these days.
A great turnout of cyclists and the media.  It was disturbingly left to me to speak to the BBC and the Scotsman, good job I can converse in fluent gibberish.  A good blast round the Campsies with many cyclists.  Followed by lunch with Pippa, where we heard a load of stuff about what went on in the pro peloton back in the days; plenty of names named and shameful behaviours.  Nice to see Chung, it has been too long and new member Geo.

Good turnout today for the mural unveiling - after that a ride over the Crow and then a loop through Killearn and Strathblane and back to the start.
I’d like the record to state i was joint first to the top of the Crow - beating everyone else including the former Tour de France polka dot jersey winner in the process. A show of strength from Scotlands premier cycling club to the watching media.....I may have started 5 minutes before everyone else but it still counts đŸ€Ł

Thanks to all who joined us on the ride today. I think we all agreed it was a great first outing over the water, this year. Special shout out to new members  Frank, Dom, and Geo.

7 of us set off from the clubrooms on a warm but windy summers evening. Stuart, Lauren, Dan, Alan, Kenny, Gary and me. Stuart and Lauren dropped out at Kilbarchan, but the rest of us carried on, staying together (mostly), helping out the riders that struggled with the hard bits, particularly once we got pas the 20 mile mark.
We had a great tailwind on the way out, but that made it a little tougher on the way back, especially on the uphill bits, however, we all arrived back at the clubrooms together. Pace was slow enough to chat, quick enough to stay warm as temperatures dropped.
A good start to the social runs.

    Thanks Richard,
Yeah, this is a bit embarrassing now. Photos attached and, safe to say, I haven't looked at these for some time! There is still plenty of edge on the front but not much at the back.
I'm ordering some new cleats just now and I'm going to revert to the grey that I started off with to reduce the float. The bike is needing a clean anyway so will pay attention to the pedals and lube while I am there.
    Cheers,
    Dave

    Cheers for the photos.
The front edge looks like it's worn down to about a third of its original thickness. (I've seen worse on my own shoes, mind!) I think the worn tip is the source of your problems. Stick on a new pair of cleats and see what happens. Good luck.

    Hi Chung,
......funny you should mention that.  I think I have narrowed it down to the Colnago eGRV or the Wilier Jena Hybrid.  The Wilier comes with a few better features, but the the Colnago looks fantastic......and it’s a Colnago.  Only slight issue is that as they are gravel bikes, it would need to come with fishing gear and not Campagnolo!Â đŸ™„đŸ˜±đŸ€Ł
Hope all is well with you.
    Cheers,

    Afternoon all,
Has been a while. 👋  Hope everyone is well.
After nearly 8 years of knee problems (with multiple re-injure, rehab, recovery......) I have decided it is time to get an ebike to help take the strain out of climbing.  I’m looking at crossers (or gravel bikes as they have been re-invented as) and there are quite a few options out there.
Does anyone have any experience of any e road/cross/gravel bikes?  Particularly in terms of hub drive v mid-drive. Any thoughts would be welcome.....unless they are too cheeky!  😄
    Ramsay
P.S. - as climbing was what I used to consider my main strength on a bike, the irony of now needing a battery to help is not lost on me!!Â đŸ™„đŸ€·â€â™‚ïžđŸ˜‚

As we edge gradually back to semi-normality we are now allowed club runs, albeit in reduced group sizes and with safeguards in place.
The committee have given the ok for club rides to start up but only in groups of a maximum of 5. We can do multiple groups though, so long as we don’t mix.
With this in mind I propose the first ride to meet at 9:30am this Sunday outside the club rooms. It’ll be the bog standard ride to BB in Largs. The reason being it’s somewhere we are familiar with so less chance of any social distancing faux pas in the cafe. If all goes well we can do different routes each week.
If folk post up here to let me know they are coming I will call the BB to book a table as it’s reduced capacity and bound to be busy, going by the forecast.
anyone wishing to attend must give me their phone number so I can pass it on to Eric, our Covid officer. I will bring hand sanitizer which anyone is free to use but ideally you will  bring your own.
If someone has a mechanical they will have to fix it themselves due to 2 metre rule.
Finally, if you have a dry cough, have lost your sense of smell &/or taste or have a temperature PLEASE STAY AWAY!!!!

Another very memorable Arran, in this case it was bigger than childbirth, bigger than wedding day, this was the mighty SA for my gal Laura. First female in Hall of Fame so pretty special one.
I reckon with Jan and Andy we've got the pacing down to a T, this was the smoothest SA I've done, no rush, no stress just an incredibly even paced ride, and thanks to the guys for a fantastic day out and their total commit to the team effort. If she didn't make it abundantly clear, Laura is truly made up and very grateful for this life experience.
The first hour in early morning was truly magical with very little wind and incredible views down to Ailsa Craig.
Roll on the next guided tour of Arran from your dedicated hosts Jan, Andy and me, would be a pleasure to get more inductees through the summer.
