ROTHESAY A NEW CHALLENGE !

Dream it, Believe it, Achieve it. It worked for DA.

So much for 'if I gave up Cycling tomorrow I'd be very happy happy with my cycling life' after the DA.

Just some prelimiminary investigation into a Rothesay challenge. 2 laps 44 miles between ferries requires 20.4mph. I think that could be an aperitif challenge to scope it out.

Then leading to a more substantial one. 66 miles at 20.9mph average for a 3 lapper the way the ferries work.

My gut tells me that you can maintain a higher average on Rothesay as not so much up and down and twisty roads. But who knows.

Or dare I even dream it, 4 laps, 88 miles, at 21.15mph. Shoot for the stars and you might hit the moon:)

Just sayin.

Before that, I would be happy to flog myself as a domestique if there was a quorum of bodies wanting to attempt the mythical DA. Next year. But I don't think I would want to do it again myself !?

Ohyadancer!

Double Arran is going to be my main goal for next season! A domestique or two will be most welcome.

Double Rothesay will be a bit easier in terms of elevation so it would make for a good stepping stone for those wanting to do the single Arran in the future (or those that want a faster pace training ride) Down from the club rooms and back and it would be a good sunday club ride as some could do a single lap at a leisurely pace and have time for a cafe stop.

I did a personal challenge a few years ago cycle Arran water ski to Bute, cycle Bute then the same for Millport then to largs. Only about 100 mile cycle but its fairly hard, the likes of Charley would probably swim!

I know you probably want to keep it easy but just a thought!

Paul,

Forget small islands in the Firth of Clyde and go large. Work up a plan to have a JWCC crack at the LEJOG record. No idea what the record is but it would keep you out of trouble and there is no way you are going to be able to punctuate LEJOG into your posts. This will save you hours of typing and let you train more.

Even if the attempt fails it is a fine ride.

I'm with Jan on next year's goals for DA. Rothesay looks like a lot of fun too. So I'm in for both and all!
