An excellent days riding with the 10am bunch leaving the club rooms with talk of watts and the scent of blood in their nostrils. The route to Sinclair St was quiet. You could hear a pin drop with the determined bunch. On Sinclair st I was grateful to make the top after an attempted murder by a small red Nissan micra driven by a conscience free older adult. We found the 930 bunch at Cameron house all stood around admiring Paul C's new gear set up. The 10 bunch carried on but the 930 bunch staged a counter attack with lots of good riding all the way down to the bridge. After the bridge there was a bunch of 7 remaining all tired and hungry except for the interloper known at La Moncoutieé who livened things up considerably. At langbank Colin attacked hard and I managed to hang on to his dishing out of suffering. Good cooperation all the way back to the club rooms. I'm glad Colin didn't go for a sprint because I would have lost. Caught the 9am group as we reached the club rooms. Thanks Billy for the most delicious Heinz tomato soup I have ever had in my whole life!

Well, today was certainly a real "reliability" test for the bikes! 2 sheared rear mech hanger, and one snapped chain........ Oh, and a punctures thrown in for good measure :-)

Group of 8 in the 9.30am group, first timer - Will from BoW joining us in this madness, apparently he enjoyed it today. ;-)

Making good progress all the way to Sinclair street riding as a group proper, disaster struck just coming out of Duck Bay with Paul's rear mech shearing off due to a combination of falling off earlier on the track which probably bent the hanger & gunky chain. Spend a good 15 minutes at least converting it into a single speed. The 10 am group arrived just as we finished, so a welcome tow by them from Alexandra to the Bridge was very welcomed.

Incident free until we got to Langbank where Alan Foxy had a puncture and Mark snapped his rear mech as well further up the road.

Eventually got back to the club room with soup, pizza, rolls & cakes waiting, magic!

Thoroughly enjoyed it today, hope everyone got home ok. Especially Paul as he had another machincal coming into Dumbarton, hope you're home safely!

Well done to Will, our guest rider & Emma for hanging in there towards the end, great effort!

Thanks for the wheels guys & girl, also to the banquet suppliers - big thumbs up!

P.S Get your bikes fixed and in tip top condition for next weeks West Kilbride run, that's what these Reliability Runs are designed for!

Cheers

Chung

Good ride, today was a new PB for Sinclair Street so while im still slow climbing things are heading in the right direction. Apologies about the racket my bb was making particularly after Dumbarton on the way back!

Hope you made it home ok Mark and your head (and bike!) is alright

Another tough day on bike. A lot of wheel sucking requiredTa to Mark for leading me up Sinclair street.was happy when we caught 9.30 bunch as pace went down a tad but then somehow they took a shortcut into Dumbarton which meant another burst. J Hung on till slim and slimmer put in a burst on langbank hill but still finished quite strong. Mark thought u had just dropped your chain but clearly it was a bit more serious. Hope u ok

Fine day out again. 2 offs - 1 due to black ice on the track. Must have looked like Bambi as I tried to stay upright. 2 was stupidity on my part - switched mentally while coasting up to red lights and ramming the car at the end of the queue. Cuts, bumps, bruises and some road rash. Nothing serious.

Rear mech, I think the first fall has damagedd the hanger. Gears were a bit clicky but assumed it had merelybeen knocked out of true. A tad annoying but hey what can one do. Bike will go the bike hospital for rehabilitation. Back for more next week.

Glad you made it back Mark. I heard the crunching of a rear mech. When I looked behind I wrongly thought it was a gear change problem because we'd just hit the climb. Hope you're okay and you hip is okay too

Thought we'd made it out on the first dry day for ages only for the rain to start as we headed through Dumbarton and another downpour at Bishopton. With the thought of some hot soup and a roll decided to push on before it rained again. Glad everyone made it back eventually By the time all the mechanicals clear up it'll be time to dust off the summer bikes - oh the strange anomalies of cycling.

today was ment to be a recovery ride, however after getting cougt in cameron house, the pace picked up a bit, managed an average of 17.5mph for the run so quite pleased with that.

Thanks chung for the good ride master role.pleasure to be in the group.

Paul will soon realise to give you your place, especaly when you are fixing his bike, because we wouldent want to see you angry! All that turning green peddaling very fast and bulging muscles

The plank on a bike award for this Sunday must go to Mark even though Postie John tried to kill himself prior to starting the ride, but mark not only fell off on the track but managed to do it again by running into the back of a car, glad i was on a turbo

On a serious note hope John is ok he should be as i heard he landed on his head and hes from Ayrshire

Mark i saw hes ok

Stabiliser for you two i think

Ritchie I've had numerous turbo blow outs. I think a plank would have had more luck staying upright than me today. I will manfully accept today's award. Just one of those days. Still, have never ever ever fallen off a bike while on the turbo. I guess that takes an inordinate level of specialist incompetence which we should all aspire to avoid acquiring.

Great ride today with a well disciplined 9.30 bunch. Good to meet Will and see Emma and Andy out.

Every day's a school day with Chung. We learned how to turn a bike into a single gear, that Paul has a manky chain and how to carry out a fruitless chase of a car which can go much faster than a bike. Seriously Chung I never fail to learn something useful from you, just excellent.

Thank you Billy for having the soup and pizza ready for us. You make a gracious host!
