2023 Subscriptions Gummers Posted May 28, 2014 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted May 28, 2014 In diary for me too. So over the Ross. Left and south then round to Brodick then full lap of Island. Is that right?
Mark O
I'm in. Sounds like a day for the mountain goats. Here's to warm sunshine and a light breeze. Route briefing on the ferry will be required.

Committee Alan McLean Posted June 1, 2014 Committee Report Share Posted June 1, 2014 Hi Paul/guys, can you please post final itinerary/ferry times/bailout options? I cannot follow 100+ posts!
2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted June 1, 2014 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 1, 2014 Alan Official route is only 3 or 4 posts up. Numerous bail out options will be fully briefed on ferry, there is absolutely no reason for you to even consider these unless you have a mechanical disaster 7am ferry. Arrive 0755. Assume start riding 0810. 28 mile loop then 50 mile loop (which has 2 short cut options). Target return ferry leaves Brodick at 1230 so need to be back for 1215 giving 4h5m for 78 miles so average 19.1 mph without stops. Nae problem. Back in Ardrossan 1325. Nice pleasant way to spend a Saturday morning. Next ferry back is at 1350. Bring it on
Mark O
Plan! Long range weather forecast suggest dry warm weather - bonus. Is this going to be a Joansin only enterprise again?
Colin McPhee
Think Greg o'malley might join us spoke to him on Saturday

2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted June 4, 2014 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 4, 2014 Just a sound out job. The weather looks very wet on Saturday. If it stays that way, who might be available to switch to Sunday. Timing would need to be 0945 ferry over and return 1640 arriving back in Ardrossan 1735. No earlier ferry on Sunday. Mark O
Ditto Charlie's post, and would add Sunday looks the betterof the two days and no need for a 5.30 alarm call. Honestly not bothered. Your call Paul.

2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted June 6, 2014 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 6, 2014 Just seen forecast with yellow warning for thunderstorms Saturday right over the Ross. Really sorry Charlie and Andy but Sunday has got to make sense. Have not heard from Colin yet but I will contact greg omalley and Andy Mullen, hopefully they can do Sunday. One other thing, we have a bit more time so you may find the challenge extending to 100 miles cunning plan to be hatched tonight.

Mark O
Was going to ask which day. Sunday it is. Al, you don't notice the rain too much when you're dying hanging onto a wheel.
2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted June 6, 2014 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 6, 2014 Got at least 5 for Sunday, excellent number for a working group, we have Mark, Alan, Colin, Greg O and me. An excellent mix of Roleurs, Raconteurs, Randonneurs, Whippets and gringo's (in no particular order)
2023 Subscriptions AlanT Posted June 6, 2014 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 6, 2014 Good luck guys. It'll be a huge achievement.
2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted June 6, 2014 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted June 6, 2014 2 splendid options, both assume back at ferry 15 mins before departure. 1) 2 laps of island over the Ross, 50.5 miles per lap, 101 miles in 5.58 hours, average required 18.1 mph. 2) 1 lap over Ross, 1 lap full coast road, 105.5 miles, average require 18.9 mph. Option 1 probably leaves time for 1 puncture. Bring some spare liquid and gnash to plank at road side to collect on lap 2.
