Paul C
Over to north side through Helensburgh, Garelochhead, around the peninsular, cafe stop at Kilcreggan, back via Glen Fruin, balloch. 09:00 Miller street, 09:35 south side of bridge. Approx 86 miles Club to Club Pace like the recent Troon run. 16 - 17 mph

Mark O
I'll probably be out for this. Hope to see some intermediates step up for this. If its anything like the Troon run the pace will be social. Chatting in the bunch will be mandatory.
GreigS
Funny thing is I thought we had 3 bunches not just 2 , just aswell the 30 milers can plan their own route and we will Hardly a club run when one bunch is excluded

2023 Subscriptions gregbalden Posted August 12, 2013 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 12, 2013 As a bunch, and as a club we are all friendly. No exclusion here and any progression is welcomed and encouraged. Hope to see you soon Greig and any other 30 milers ready to go forward Greg Colin McPhee and Gummers
Guest john_s
Hope to be out, although it's a bit more than I've been doing this year.
Paul C
John - you did very well on the Troon run - just bring plenty of energy bars/drinks/gels. There may be some who want to miss out teh Glen Fruin bit and go straight back through Helensburgh. See how you feel at that point.
2023 Subscriptions AlanT Posted August 13, 2013 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 13, 2013 Giving it serious thought. I quite fancy the longer run so long as it's not too quick.
Mark O
Grieg - yellow card for presuming anyone was excluded. You little rabble rouser. Alan, John and indeed anyone else who might have reservations, this has been billed as a club ride. As those on the Troon ride will confirm the pace was sensible. Usual rule of no one getting left behind applies, as does the understanding that if the pace sneaks up you call out to have it regulated. I'm of the view that there is no point to riding people into the ground who are a little apprehensive about riding with stronger cyclists. They'll just not try it again and will be lost to the idea of progression. Also, remember you're riding in a bunch where the stronger guys will take longer turns at the front giving you more time to draft and save energy. Ultimately you might go 1 mph faster than normal, clock up your longest ride of the year and go home gubbed but you'll be smiling, Grumpy Grieg excepted. chung and gregbalden
2023 Subscriptions Gummers Posted August 15, 2013 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 15, 2013 Won't out Sunday, doing Vets race with Billy, Colin and Paul. A nice kicking most likely! Andy
2023 Subscriptions carol cowan Posted August 15, 2013 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 15, 2013 As another return option after the coffee stop at Kilcreggan, we were thinking of catching the 12.40 ferry to Gourock and coming back the Clune or Bishopton. Cuts about 20miles off run and a nice wee ferry sail. Carol and Dave.

Paul C
Regarding pace please note that in my original post I mentioned 16 - 17 mph. That is AVERAGE speed for the whole run. Pace will be much higher on the flat bits!
2023 Subscriptions GrahamF Posted August 16, 2013 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 16, 2013 I plan to be there, but expect to take one of the shorter options home. I'll leave Glen Fruin for another day! Graham.

Mark O
Don't get hung up on average speed girls and boys. Billy is spot on, 'in bunch' pace is considerably higher than you do on your own and you'll cruise along without noticing the increase. The pace will be what it will be. The group will set it. Regards going the distance, again working in and as a bunch will allow you to go further. The stronger riders will see everyone back to Miller Street. Hope to see a good sized bunch tomorrow. chung
