John C got a reaction from Gummers in Sunday 24th March - Lazy Run Part 2
For what should have been a miserable day, ended up being a day full of laughs.

Memories or nightmares?
Spied a couple of the Wheelers at the very end (13:47) hanging around waiting for us mere mortals to finish.

Jwcc group of 6. Major cock up where meeting led to delayed start. Myself Billy John Iain couttie & ian carvill eventually left from clubrooms and headed for Bowfield. Picked up Mr Gumley on the way. Carvill called it a day just after reservoir. John Clark got a puncture at the canny man. His attempt at changing tube was of Hamoc proportions. So 1 hour later( a bit of poetic licence)we were back on road. Left Andy at stewarton and decided to do sewing bee route after a leisurely coffee stop in Stewarton. Faultless ride back to top of Dalek hill when disaster struck Billy. George had clearly got out his voodoo Billy doll as his rear mech sheared off. John redeemed himself as he had all the tools ( including chain link) to fix to a fixie. However George’s voodoo magic ran deep as Billy’s chain was buckled and we had to push him to Glennifer braes road.
Still a cracking ride & can not believe how many bailed out.

Hoping to be out too, but still no winter bike, so might need to sit at the back if wet

Just throwing this out there?? Local hills, all groups out. Paris Roubaix coverage starts at 11am on Eurosport so maybe an earlier start. Maybe the committee could contact our sponsor see about some food? Maybe some deal a drink and pasta for £10 Guaranteed Sun, Beer and big screen on the Patio or my name isnt Roger De Vlaeminck.
Route could be the 10 hardest hills in the area... ??
My pick would be Hazelwood Road(Hell)

We’ve now booked the accommodation; close to the centre with plenty of room to relax after a hard days cylcing. There is still room at the inn for anyone interested in the trip.

I believe crampons are being given away free by some hospitals and local councils to their employees. Maybe the Uni can sort you out. If it comes to it you can buy them in Boots. Other chemists are available.

Aim to see you at club house at 8:15. Bringing a friend so if running a few minutes late will get you at Morrison’s or on the track at some point.

Aye Greg that's exactly what the main bunch should be, best discipline I've seen for years.

09:30 bunch rolled out up the cycle path and down the Clune, with a view to catching up with the main 9am bunch which we did at Gourock. We cracked on into Largs and figured we'd wait on the 9am bunch and see what folk are doing. Even had time for a quick coffee - thank you @Darryl Gunson for that
We then chose the standard route through Dalry via West Kilbride, and back via cycle path. It was here where I started to feel like I was going to hit the wall (I forgot to take out my lights and food with me - d'oh!) and sure enough heading through Kilbarchan I quickly ran out of energy. Thanks @Scott for the Fruit Pastilles
A well disciplined bunch - great bunch riding with everyone taking a spell. Thanks guys for letting me sit at the back over the last few miles. Hope to be out next week but a bit time constrained so may be the 'short' route. Will wait and see nearer the time.

Aye good day to be out. Would agree with Colin that the bunch riding of the 930 was real smooth. Jumped ship to get the 900 bunch up the haylie and that also functioned as a good unit. Was planning to cut off at kilbirnie but was lured back to try Gerards cakes and have to say they were brillant as were the energy bars. Sorry Alan, still can't stand parsnips.
Worked off some of the calories by returning on the back roads to kilbirnie in spring like conditions ..fab day.

Cracking day indeed.
Well drilled bunch, thanks chaps.
Thats how the main bunch should be.
Gutted I missed that soup, waited all week for it. Cakes? Missed those home-made bad boys also.
Cheers folks.

John C reacted to Gerard Deeley in Sunday 24th Feb Reliability Run #4
I have had better starts to a ride, not getting onto the bike track proper before puncturing from all the glass shards. That meant a bit of a push on my own to catch up with everyone else, not helped by me not paying attention to the route. There is something quite amazing and heartwarming to see everyone waiting for you, so a big thank you to everyone who was there, a new measure of reliability. Maybe I should also post up recipes for Paul Leavy.
