stevie got a reaction from EricL in Sunday 20th Aug
Not long home.
Took the bike straight to the shop - they reckon the quick link has failed and thats dragged the mech round. Left it with them so we'll see.
There is some damage to the inside of the seat stay but it might just be the paint work and not the actual carbon.

No points for me as i was late and chasing the bunch but chucked it on the west ferry after almost being knocked down. I hate that road!

Well that was interesting. Myself James Iain Mctavish Eric and Andy Prenelle headed off along Georgetown . By time turned for bishopton I doing my usual hiding at back. Got a bit of a fright going up to 1st set of lights as my BPM suddenly rocketed to 193 but stopped at lights and went back down so hoping was technical fault and not heart failure. Mctavish the gent he is nursed me back on to bunch on bishie hill and we were joined by 2 non wheelers. Hung on to bunch till about 1/2 mile from turnoff at 0 took shortcut with Eric and met bunch on Clune. Hung on to back of bunch till BOW and decided to call it a day. Cheers guys for the tow

Stevie, I've bought these to use on my bike(s), the pack comes in different sizes of "patch", the largest one is about 340 x 55mm, should cover most of the area you want around the bike frame ....... I guess :-)
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00QGFROOS/ref=mp_s_a_1_fkmr1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1502350208&sr=8-1-fkmr1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=zefal%2Bprotection%2Btape&th=1&psc=1
Good luck!
P.S New bike, what did you get?

Stevie,
I got 3m helicopter tape from eBay. It comes in a variety of lengths and widths. I covered my new bike in it, works a treat.

stevie reacted to PaulL in Promotion of Runs
It would be great if we had a central place to post runs that all members have access too? Yes! It's called the Bunch Forums
People are on holidays, weather or insert lame excuse here Well, hallawrerr china! are main reasons why people can't make or don't show up on runs, Billy has done a great job of posting runs for a long time and sometimes it falls apart. Some of my suggestions below
1. Post runs to help Billy out, he does a great job(mostly)
2. Post if you are coming
3. If you post a run you should show up at very least
4. Don't counter post on a run because you want to do something else, PM the original poster if you want a change of route
5. Don't post if you are not coming because its wet, it makes you look weak
6. If you are part of one of the many JWCC Sunday splinter cells that's cool, But does it help build the club? this includes me
7. Cross posting on Strava, Facebook, Social Media etc. is great but the forum should be the original source of Club Rides as that's were we direct all members new and old
Again first world problems, post and ride

stevie reacted to P McDonald in Promotion of Runs
This spring a Facebook 'messenger' group sprung up kind of randomly called 'Saturday morning bike run'. It has a few dozen members from local clubs and it works well, you just post up and generally always a group up for something.
Might be worth a pilot for one of the 3 club run groups, if it was one messenger group for all it would probably get overloaded with messages and a bit confusing.
Overall I think the Bunch works pretty well for posting and organising runs.

From a new member point of view:
When I was first looking for the club runs and other information my first port of call was to look for some kind of Facebook group. Now I am not facebooks biggest fan but in terms of integration into day to day life its hard to avoid. Most clubs etc seem to have these facebook groups as well as official pages now. (it may be there is a group that I haven't seen)
I joined the Southside and Northside Chainy groups a while back. I am updated, or see in my feed when a ride or whatever is posted despite not having attended.

Well that was quick!
Not particularly enjoyable, but strangely enjoyable at the same time...if that is even possible.
I was relegated from the bunch as we left bishy.
Stevie and Mr provision ( not sure of your name, sorry!) caught me, so i suggested a finlaystone short cut so we could all enjoy another kicking. Peeled off at houston and that was me!!
See you in 6 weeks laugh ðŸ˜.... OR sooner if I get my self in gear!!
Nb. Training fortnightly doesn't work.

Good night apart from the rain, and the mud 😈 Now been given lines by the head master I have to write I must not surge 3 billion times
Didn't think I was 😇

Aye enjoyed that tonight, to be fair to everyone I think the wind plays a part with people trying to get out of it quicker causing surges.
Think that's the first sprint I've ever won 😆
Cheers men

stevie reacted to martin in Sunday 23rd July : Dalgarven Mill Kilwinning
Very enjoyable wee run this morning. 6 up from the clubrooms, but Ken Mac was feeling poorly and turned round after the rocky road. The Dalgarven Mill cafe passed Graham's £5 test, and they've adopted the JWCC too - a photo of a clubrun group now on their menu.
Coffees drunk and then home via NCN and the track. Good to see and have a quick chat with John and Rita Montgomery who were out with a number of other youngsters from Glasgow Wheelers and the Ivy.
At Kilbarchan Morna persuaded me to add on an extra wee loop so we headed up Burntshields road while Dave, Carol and Boyd headed their own ways home.
73km in the legs and home before the rain. Great stuff.
