Guys,
managed to get the car hire booking changed....we have ditched the 9 seater Minibus and now have 2 x medium sized 5 seater cars.. the overall cost has only risen marginally, but now we have an extra person, so if Iain Couttie and Michael can just pay the same as the rest of us £34, it will leave an excess of £20, which I will stick into the kitty once we get there
Billy will be driving the other car.....
Cheers
McGinty

Aye good to get back out with the bunch and good training trying to hold Dapper Darryls wheel after Stewarton.
As I had not suffered enough finished off the day with the mini tour of Flanders route up by Beith golf course.
Cracking day all round.

Yip davy’s routes always a pleasure. Was prepared for no coffee stop so mill in stewarton was a pleasant surprise though I overdid it on the eats and suffered for it later

Really nice morning for the bunch ride, using many little known single track North Ayrshire roads to arrive in Stewarton for a quality 'pit stop' as can be seen from Darryl's pictures above.
Thanks DavieB for the route and the bunch for wheels.

Nice ride today. The route was along some less well-riden roads with hardly any traffic. We stopped for coffee at The Mill in Stewarton, which is rather posh - pink champagne by the till!
This was followed by the climb out of Stewarton and then the sewing bee route, with a slight deviation at Neilston.
70 lumpy interesting miles for me.
Thanks to Davie for the route.

DavidC reacted to martin in Jets coach Lusia Steele now British junior sprint Champion
You'll know this already if you're on Facebook, but just to keep everyone in the picture.
Huge win for oor Lusia today, wholly justifying her selection to the GB Team for world championships next month.
Reward for dedication: her's and Kenny's. Chuffed to bits for the whole family.

I know this is not strictly the Jets forum and I know many of you will have seen this on Facebook but just had to mention a HUGE congratulations to Lusia Steele who has been selected to represent Team GB at the Junior Worlds in August in the sprint.
Very exciting trip ahead for Kenny methinks

Just clocked a 64:28, which is 45 seconds faster than my PB for this course. Well chuffed with that considering my lack of training and fitness level, not to mention last night’s pepperoni and jalapeño pizza which was making its presence felt before the start.
The course is what it is, a relatively good first and last quarter and a brutal middle half. Conditions were excellent, hardly any wind and warm without being hot.

Another super ride on the Cowal. Ian H towed us down to the ferry and he was so good that we made the earlier boat!
On the Cowal the usual Tarzan/ C11 (Ballochondrain) route to Kames was followed. Lunch at our new adopted cafe ; the old post office on the corner) and then back to Hunter’s Quay via the Kyles of Bute.
Weather was scorching and good acclimatisation for the Pyrenees. Pints at Amaretto were well deserved, and Glenn dropped by as well.
Worth mentioning that we bumped into Al and Richard who were on a mission to ride onto the Kintyre Peninsula. Wonder how they got on?

Made it round Darryl. Bit of a wait at Portavadie as we just missed the ferry due to riding too slowly after we met you lot! Nice 2 up along loch Fyne to Ardrishaig ( 20th overall I think ) where we turned along the Crinan canal path. Avoided most of the main Oban rd before turning off for Ford and the east side of Loch Awe. Beautiful riding through the trees with some great views of Ben Cruachan before heading back up and over to Inveraray. As time was pushing on we decided to ride back on the main road instead of heading down by Strachur and loch Eck for the ferry. Unfortunately this meant back over the Rest ! Another tough 20 odd mile 2 up got us to Arrochar with Richard pulling well up the “false flat” with great views of Ben Ime ( apparently). As we were now pretty tired we decided to ride down Lomond side on the track/ old road which was as a relief as we had to slow down ! I needed a bit of a break at Balloch and persuaded Richard to go to MacDonalds where I wolfed down a meal deal before polishing off most of Richards cos he is an athlete and struggled to get his down. On through Bonhill , the track and Dumbarton rd for home. I had no Garmin with me and my phone went flat somewhere outside Inveraray. Richard had 203 miles when we went our seperate ways. I would however point out that I rode over and back from Shawlands as well ( sorry Rich ). Left the house at 0530, back at 2215 - I reckon over 330km for me - new PR ( but if it’s not on Strava!) Great day out and thanks to Richard who rode very strongly all day ( I thought he was a trackie )
