if anyone is ordering these tyres from Sigma sports, they have kindly offered me a 10% discount on next order. If anyone can make use, the code is WELM10. I am in serious risk of divorce if I don't stop spending on new bike and parts.

    maybe not a bad thing!

Iain67 reacted to Kenny MacDonald in Sunday 21st Feb 2016 - Reliability #3 - Sinclair Street
This reliability brings back memories of the time I did a track stand at traffic lights at the bottom of Sinclair Street . The local church had just come out and the congregation was streaming across the road . When the lights went to green  I jumped on pedals to get a quick getaway . Only to end up on the deck in a heap , as the chain had snapped LOL  much to the amusement of the rest of the bunch. I wish I could say it was my super strength but alas it was a batch of dodgy chains . I can recall at least 4 other club members suffering a similar fate that season.
Another memorable reliability run round that circuit was stopped by the police just after Cardross . Our bunch was about 25 strong and we had caught the Glasgow district CTC who had about 30 in their bunch . A Police inspector pulled us over and told us to ride in single file , realising this would cause even more of a hold up for traffic we duly obliged without any discussion . It was a sight to behold as the group rode into Helensburgh in one long line .
ps it took an eternity to get to back of bunch when you had done a spell

Thanks for having the soup ready Jane, Carol, et al! A fantastic spread and just what i needed after that. Beautiful day with some stunning views of snow capped mountains on Arran and Ben Lomond. (Paul could hardly contain himself!) only one bunch set off for what was a fast run made a lot harder with the head wind on the return leg.

A bit of ice here and there but nothing too bad.

Popped after Stewarton and came back in with Ian and Daryl.

    Bath bound.

Interesting short cut. Wish I had known where I was going as I ended up going straight on at the fork in the and about a mile or so further up ended up at a farm. I did manage to get over onto the old Port Glasgow Road using a bit of cross country.........bike handled the snow okay so it must have been the new tyres fitted!! Feet took a while to thaw out though when I got home. I will need to remember to eat more food on the run next time

    Iain,

Found this page for Canyon, quite a set up - typical German efficiency & all that stereotype :-)

I think Canyon has some sort of "Test Bike Hire" set-up in Majorca:

Might be fun & a good idea to check it out when/if you're there later on the year.

Attached is a provisional calendar for Confined Events for the coming year.

As you will see I have also included for reference a number of open events and other club activities to help see how they all sit together.

I have included the published date for the Scottish National 10 and 25 TTs, and included two confined events at those distances before the respective National event.

Also, I've not specified a location for the confined 25s yet, and suggest that potential competitors agree amongst themselves where they would like it to be.

As for good deals online - Paulscycles have Cannondale SuperSix Evo Hi Mod frames in their sale for £750...that is their pro level frameset and if you were to add ultegra and some nice wheels to that you would still have change from what the frameset alone normally costs (£2100 i think)

Not trying to talk you outta new bike mate, but Ribble Cycles do a full Shimano 105 groupset, which includes the whole shebang, shifters, front and rear mechs, brakes, bottom bracket, chainset, cassette, chain, cables for £289, winter bike would be as new...

    Iain,

As Chung says "basic" bike frame fit should be simple and in my opinion based on the "effective" or "virtual" top tube.

Manufacturers can class it as S,M, 51, 52 or 54 whatever, but as long as I go for 535mm effective top tube I know it will fit.

If you want to build on a budget - buy the frame only as there should still be some killer deals on Ultegra class groupsets right now from the big online retailers.

    Cheers,
    D
