Firstly, thanks to Alan and Paul for tips before the race.

My plan was to basically get stuck right in, not hide and hopefully avoid any crashes, so decided to attack from the start. Another boy from Glasgow Ivy came with me and we managed to stay away for about 17 miles but got caught just into lap 2 from the other groups.

I went through a couple of times with the scratch boys but should of sat in as it was a bit too much, you live and learn. Big Alan stayed with them whilst me and Paul worked hard and finished in the second bunch.

    Absolutely loved it.

    Cheers

Really Fun day! Sun and Carbon wheels are a good mix. I was pretty chilled coming into race, with no real expectations, bit too chilled as I took a practice lap before my race when there was none and started at the back of pack. Struggled to get near front and when break came was behind about 10 riders off and couldn’t make gap. We had a group of about 20 but only 4 of us putting turns in front(even after some polite requests). Finished mid 20s I think.. had a blast, top fun.

Gummers looking real strong riding on the front the first few laps. The Jets super strong as usual with some great results. Jan was going well in the 3/4 really fast race but he looked out of position when the split came. I left just before Jess finished and she was in front group with 6-8 other riders with a big gap, I would put money she finished top as she looked really strong.

Thanks Martin and Jets for rollers and Support, great showing from the club

Some great weather and hard racing. I made a bit of an arse of things -  id lined up on the front row but somehow managed to go frin the front row to last row before the race even started After that was burning matches closing down gaps rather than burning matches moving up the field. There was a split in the lead group midway through the race - no use blaming anyone but myself here, if i had been further up the group i'd have been alright. But i wasn't. Went past the guys that lost the wheel and pegged it at a few metres for a lap or two but couldnt close it then it started going out again. 3 of us chasing  then eventually catching some others that were dropped then some others further back.  Finished 22nd, i think there was about 20 in the lead group. Enjoyable day but also a bit frustrating too.

Jess was 3rd (and best 4th cat). Looked the strongest in the womens race, but riding against those with lots more experience so got mugged on the last lap. 3rd is still a great result though. Jess Millar did really well too - possibly first junior.

Excellent weather in Stirling today for some good racing. Managed to catch the Youth A. Johnstone Jets distinguished themselves and Mul looking like a very happy chappy.

I was 4th cat race 1. Some strong guys in my Bunch including Gary MacDonald and James Tree. I was well up in front group until lap 3. Two guys right in front of me bumped into each other on downhill chicane so I took evasive action doing a CX across to exit corner. 10 seconds might as well be a year. Got into chasing group of 8 or so. Happy with my positioning and cornering overall. 25th place and happy enough with a decent training session.

When I left Paul L the other fighting Irish was looking like he was having a good race!

Brilliant spring sunshine for the Masters Vets RR today. Shorts and short sleeves and very little wind to speak of. Below constitutes the race report:

Before crash 1 good effort by Gregg O who stayed off til lap 5. I went down with 10 other guys in bizarre no sense out of blue crash. Colin okay. My chain came off in crash and got on wrong side of pedal. Took ages to sort. Finished race with solo effort over 13 miles. Nasty crash at sprint finish. Colin okay. One rider Alistair Pell KO'd but regained consciousness and taken to crosshouse.

That'll be the race season started then.

Here is the world famous cut out and keep timing schedule for DA but also applicable to SA.

Print and stick it on your top tube (Paul may wish to custom print on vinyl and preserve under clear coat resin)

To complete the single/double the riders need to pass the key routemarks within a minute or two of the time given from the start. First circuit in first column of times.

Assuming the 0700 ferry allows riders to start at 0800 then simply add 8 hours to all timings. for instance riders should be thundering past the south Ross junction at 0859 on the first circuit and Lochranza peir at 0958. On the second circuit they should reach the north Ross junction by 1111 and so on. I have generously allowed 4 minutes feed stop at the bench and fourteen minutes to check in for 1400 ferry.

There can be a small allowance for wind which is very strong or in an unusual direction but if riders are more than two minutes down on arriving at a point then they are not going hard enough and very unlikely to complete SA/DA. They may wish to Abandon (A) and take the String of Shame if they are late reaching the first String junction or Machrie a few minutes later. I did.

Times have been verified by looking at rides on Strava during low SW winds.

There is a book deal, movie tie-in and a Zwift based version coming soon.

    Alan & all,

I assume it'll be a carbon (or Titanium) feast kind of ride then????

If that's the case, then I'll attend with my "new toy" - my 2nd project Italia :-)
(I've got a black one, so thought it would be a good idea to have a white one as well)

Like Richard, I'll most likely tag along for part of the run!

P.S Sorry Darryl, is it 8.30am at the clubroom or the bridge?

Jan, if we are talking strava segments, I think I just broke a Strava record, 1.8 miles in 33 mins at 4.4mph but I stayed upright !
That came immediately after a 1000m climb. Never known anything like it, did not know road or when it would end. Average gradient 13% but there were sections I was honking out the saddle and weaving in a 34-28.
Jani Brakovicz holds the segment at over 9mph which is mind blowing, Ivan Basso is 4th.
