james-maclaren reacted to Phil Malcolm in More Summer Cross
There are 2 races in Cumbria in easy reach over the next few weeks.
First of all 20th of July in Greystoke near Penrith and then on the 4th of August in Carlisle. My plan for both was to get the train down as it only takes an hour and both are riding distance from stations with no changes from Glasgow. No preenty required on either and they have a full card of Junior races too.
Also, on the 3rd of August there is a Cross up in Arbedour I was planning on doing too.
Anybody else fancy any of the above?

james-maclaren reacted to Alan McLean in Tweedlove-7hr enduro 1st June 2013
Rode round Glentress for 7 hours.
The place was rocking. 500 MTB racers plus usual Saturday riders. Big event village. Big PA system. Go-ape high in the trees, hill walkers, sunshine.
I can go uphill on a bike but descend like a roadie on mud so only managed 8 laps. Rumour has it the winner did 11.

Heartily enjoyed this yesterday, a decent quality field and awesome weather for my first Cross race in 10 years! Got a 7th place and managed to keep it on the same lap as the winners

james-maclaren reacted to Ramsay in Triathlon/Duathlon
All,
As there are a number of club members that continually choose to spoil a good bike ride with running and/or swimming ( ), I have created a new section of the bunch for all things triathlon/duathlon.

Hope to see lots of race reports etc. up there from all our multisport competitors.
Cheers,

Hi all,
Lidl thursday specials tomorrow is the bike gear! Well priced decent goods! Gilets, shorts, gloves, tops, socks, glasses!
Inc! A bike hoist! Which may be handy for hoisting bikes to your roof! And maybe the clubrooms bike storage?

OK. Slight exaggeration.
But early Facebook reports suggest that our riders inc. Lewis Mulholland performed brilliantly at the UK sprintfest in Manchester last weekend.
Looking forward to full report from Lewis please.

james-maclaren reacted to martin in Bute Triathlon now open
Realised I've misunderstood the Bute Triathlon. When I lived there I'm sure its was pints at Mac's bar, dancing at the Harbour disco and then chips at Zavaroni's.
Things have changed.

James,
It was an impromptu run with some of the youngsters who were supposed to be on the WoSCA session
Snow put paid to the run over Fenwick so we made a quick decision to head off Johnstone

james-maclaren reacted to Alan McLean in Race season has begun!
Duncan and I were at the refurbished Commie pool in embra for the New Year's Day Triathlon.
Yes, the year was only 12 hours old, the party goers were still staggering home through Holyrood but Duncan, me and three hundred others were smashing it for 400m in the pool, three times round Arthur's Seat by bike and once on foot.
Cool, damp but sunny.
Nice big crowd of hungover passers by and the come on daddy brigade lurked by the bottom roundabout to wince at my TT bike handling skills on the 180 deg roundabout turn. I stayed upright, others didn't.
Anyway got a PB, a sixth overall and second vet but was given the sympathy prize for 1st vet cos the guy that beat me was 2nd overall. I just love the one prize per person rule.
So, who's next? Track league on 9th?
See you out there and in there.
