Lacking speed or strength (or skill?) I dismounted and ran up the sand pit each lap. Quicker than falling off half way up. Still screwed it up on the final lap when I fluffed unclipping my standing foot and came to grief. Cue mirth from Lewis, Danny and other assorted spectators.
 
Only hit the deck twice yesterday, the first time was a softer landing. I gave way to a lapping rider into the mud section and he promptly came off in front of me blocking the track. 
 
Actually felt good in the technical sections but lost huge time in the flat and uphill sections. Back to Billy's turbo sessions for me.

(2) Complete 3 Peaks without peak bog induced face plant;
(3) Do it sub 4.5 hours.

Since the acquisition of a motorhome I am heading North for the weekend and have entered this. The descriptions I have read seem to suggest it is a cracking course replete with uphill sand pit.
 
I know it is a long way but is anybody else planning on racing?

Camping days are over so I will never use it again.
 
Condition I would describe as decent it certainly should not leak but may have a bit of mould here and there as the last time it was used it was murder getting it dry as we packed up when it was raining, and then rained solid for a month. All poles and tethers are present.
 
If you are interested post up or pm by the end of the month otherwise it is destined for landfill.

Random gridding in the V40 race left the 3 amigos standing around for a while after the gun went but me and Paul had a decent 1st couple of laps making up some places with Davie C no doubt close on our heels. The faster start actually took away some of the bottle necks and at the tree hairpin I managed to ride it 1st time round. Nae luck to Paul with puncture but at least he got spare bike and managed to get a few more laps in.
 
I was chuffed by not being lapped (not even close) and last year this would probably have got you around a top 30 but this year I was sprinting for 50th place so think the completion has been upped again this year.

Well that was fun, First two laps wheelers 1-2. Got the Hole Shot (Davie B )    and Alan right behind pushing me on at one point we had a gap to the field but we were both well in the red. At one point I looked at Alan an thought what the **** are we doing leading out this race  Well done to the Jets! Nice day out and my Curry paid for

My new pre-ride checklist now consists of grabbing the rim and pulling it to the side, having reassured myself that this will cause lateral movement I then proceed to hold the bike an inch of the ground and drop it....only when I hear a reassuring noise do I commit to a ride.

Prioritise getting ones that are easy to mount/de-mount in the case of on the road punctures, preferably you should be able to do it by hand sans tyre levers.
 
Through experience some tyre / rim combinations are problematic in this regard. 

30 odd times up the Fairlie should cover it.
