AllanC got a reaction from mazadada in The Bunch Rules - Please Read.
    Welcome to The Bunch

“The Bunch†is the name of the community forum associated with the Johnstone Wheelers Cycling Club, and is maintained by members of Johnstone Wheelers Cycling Club. It should be regarded as an independent resource run in support of cyclists everywhere.

Registration to The Bunch is free and carries no obligation. Anyone can read The Bunch but a "Member" is one who has registered and is thus able to post their own messages and to reply to messages of other Members.

We all share a love of cycling but otherwise may have quite different opinions and views. The Bunch is a public forum and the world’s window on JWCC, read by Jets and other young people. We ask simply that members continue, as they generally do, to exercise discretion and responsibility in what they post.

The administration team will remove any content that may damage the reputation of The Bunch or of Johnstone Wheelers Cycling Club, or which might lower the standing of the sport in the public eye.

Should you require any assistance then please email [email protected] for further assistance or guidance.

    Forum Usernames & Profile Pictures

Members who choose nicknames or profile pictures that are inflammatory, vulgar, promotional, or rude will be requested to change them. Failure to do so may result in a temporary or permanent ban from The Bunch.

    Language and Trolling

The Bunch is a family-friendly and public environment. There are young users and language should be kept civilised at all times. Vulgar language is not allowed. This constitutes the use of any kind of offensive, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate material deemed unsafe for younger members. Posts containing inappropriate language will potentially be removed and users will be warned over future conduct.

Do not post provocative, outrageous, or pointless messages only to get a response from others, i.e. "trolling." Repeat violators will be permanently banned from posting on The Bunch.

Lastly, if it is abundantly clear that a user has no intention of positively contributing to a discussion, combined with an abrasive, combative attitude, their posts will be removed and the user will be advised on future conduct. Repeat offenders may be subject to a temporary or permanent ban from The Bunch.

    Personal Attacks

In order to maintain a positive atmosphere, no personal attacks or insults will be tolerated. While discussions may become heated, it is not an excuse to resort to attacks or insults. There is a difference between a passionate, respectful discussion and one that delves into personal matters. Think of it as debating issues, not individuals.

Should a discussion appear to contain personal attacks then it may be subject to closure and removal by the administration team.
Should a dispute between members occur then you are encouraged to use the Private Message (PM) facility to resolve the dispute. Do not use our public forums for this purpose.

    Copyright and Piracy

Members are asked to respect the copyright of other members, sites, media, etc. Any posts that appear to infringe copyright policy or link to illegal download sites will be removed immediately.
Repeat offenders may be subject to a temporary or permanent ban from The Bunch.

    Self-Promotion is Spam

Any post that is considered advertising for one's self-interests, including the promotion of any site one is affiliated with, may be subject to removal by the administration team. Repeat offenders may be subject to a temporary or permanent ban from The Bunch.
While you are allowed to promote your web site(s) in your signature, you are not permitted to post links to sites you run or are in any way affiliated with.

Only our Sponsors are allowed to promote their services in the “Sponsors Special Offers To Members†forum.

However, it is acceptable to post links to websites or services directly related to cycling, e.g. sales of cycling equipment etc, but due consideration must be given to our sponsors, who may also offer similar services.

    Cross-Posting

If you have something to post and you're not sure which board it belongs in, do not post it in more than one board. The Administration team reserves the right to move any post to a more appropriate forum should they see fit.

Duplicate threads only serve to create confusion and will be removed.

    Signatures

It is recommended that a Signature (sig) contains no more than five lines of small or normal size text (a "line" being that displayed on a browser opened to 800px width) and/or a single image of no more than 60px high, 468px wide and 6KB in size.

Text sizes should be between 9px and 12px (small and normal). Text in signatures is subject to the same conditions as posts with respect to content.

In case of doubt, submit your suggested sig line to the Administration Team by e-mail to who will be pleased to advise, and whose decision is final.

Multiple Accounts Per Individual Are Not Permitted

If you forget your password, use the password recovery tool, in which case you will be able to reset your password, given that you have access to the e-mail associated with your account. If you are still unable to login, contact an administrator.

Administrators & Committee Have the Final Word

If you have a problem or a complaint, direct it to a site administrator not to the forums. The appropriate actions will be taken. We reserve the right to ban flagrant offenders when deemed necessary, with or without prior warning.

    Kind Regards

    JWCC Committee.

Rotten morning. I thought I would cycle to Johnstone to see if I could do so in the future before joining the group; not with these lungs (up the Clune brae for the first time but i made it). Ended up heading to Lock Winnoch by accident (though I am sure its a lovely place it was lack of oxygen sent me this way).
Hey Ho i thought, Largs it is and then catch the wind up the coast back to Port of Glasgow.
My mid life crisis will see me swapping a big engine for sails next boating season :-).  Wind is all good with the right planning. That's the nonsense that was in my head when I set out.
Found a challenging little hill en route to loch Winnoch made more so by a flat tyre (nearly made it though). Phoned for the support car as I was absolutely freezing and not of the mind to fix it.

On a positive note, thanks to the gent who stopped in his car to ensure I was all right at the side of the road. I didn't need the assistance on this occasion but the offer sure lifted my spirit. I suspect he might now be telling the story of the half wit he spotted in the poring rain when more sensible people were on the turbo but he deserves some good karma anyway,

Dusting myself off to get back on. nothing else for it.
here's hoping for better weather next Sunday.

Fabulous first attempt for me cycling in a group. (and a fine group it was too). Sense of achievement 100%. What was I waiting for?
Thanks to everyone for their patience, advice and general good company. Lots of lessons learned by me  . On the whole I faired not too badly and hopefully as I get fitter I might even hold a straight line. Certainly hope to have another go sooner rather than later.

As we finished off, I suggested to Ken that he probably doesn't remember what it feels like on the first group ride. 'tense, aching shoulders and gripping the bars like your trying to rip them off'; there's hitting the nail firmly on the head.  remembered well enough.

Have a good week everyone and thanks again

Thanks everyone for the positive welcome. I had planned to train through the winter on my own and give the group a go in the new year. I will do my best to come along in the morning to get a taster of where in need to be. I'm not one to enjoy getting in the way so If I'm struggling I will drop off and let you guys get on with it.

    Thanks again.

The new British Cycling membership subscription page looks good. Very professional looking. I hope we see some members making use of the facility.

Just for information, you can purchase the membership for yourself or for someone else, so it would be ideal for parents renewing the subscriptions for their Jets when the time comes.

    Visa Credit Card
    Visa Debit/Delta/Connect
    Mastercard
    Maestro

Well done to Jets Sarah Bradford and Greg Henderson, both selected for Scottish Cycling's iDevelop Track Cycling Project. This is a new programme, aimed at identifying and developing riders towards full membership of the Performance Development Programme.
They've both got a very busy winter in front of them. Good luck both, and dig in!

Just 4 weeks to go to the Presentation Dance   Whaur's the party, then?     It's Party time!... or as I prefer to call it The Awards Ceremony!

There are some exciting raffle prizes in the bag already, but we would very much welcome your prize donations for the Raffle   A wee bit of help.   A wee bit of help.  A wee bit of help. .

If you could pm me to indicate intention to donate to the raffle, just so I have an idea of number of prizes (prize details not necessary), that would be great. Prizes can either be brought on the night or I can arrange an uplift from the club.

    Many thanks for your support.
