Also walked it, however I believe in what would be considered reverse, Inv - FW.
Good tracks all the way, probably could cycle the majority, however one or two walk only very steep bits.

Warning from the WhatsApp thread.
There is growing evidence of a non infectious but psychologically contagious syndrome. People are at risk developing “Shite weather hopelessness syndrome” characterised by depressive mood, irritability, frustration, and social withdrawal.
People are mistakingly using self isolation and quarantine to limit the spread. even worse some people have gone to Spain to escape the syndrome
I would prescribe period of bunch therapy involving sustained exposure to various gradients of shite weather plus coffee stops.

gregbalden reacted to AlanT in Sunday 16th Reliability #3 Sinclair Street
The third of the 2020 Reliability rides, to Sinclair Street (Helensburgh), 58 miles, is on Sunday 16th February, barring tsunamis, earthquakes, rains of blood and hail or other natural disasters.
All rides will leave from club rooms on Miller Street.
As previously, there will be three bunches with the slower bunch leaving at 9:00am, the second bunch leaving at 9:30am and the fastest bunch at 9:45.
The route can be found here http://www.mapmyride.com/gb/elderslie-sct/reliability-no-3-sinclair-street-route-1827559
Donations of tea, coffee, soup, rolls, cakes or traditional Polynesian luaus will be gratefully accepted and served in the club rooms at the end of the ride. Please indicate what you will be bringing in your posting. If you haven't brought any food to the reliabilities yet there is still time, thanks to those who have contributed previously..
A volunteer please to heat the soup and open up the club rooms post run.
Hopefully, we'll actually get one of these off the ground this week.
I can open the clubrooms pre-ride as I intend to join the 09:00 bunch due to my ongoing lack of fitness.

I suffered the broken chain curse a couple of miles from lochwinnoch. Managed to freewheel to clohodric stone and push and walk home. Was a sorry sight when I got in. Frozen and grumpy. Annoyed I didn’t manage the complete rout.

I'm in, I can open up early doors, then depart with 0930 bunch, passing keys over to any 0945 men if required.

The first of the 2020 rides on the reliability routes, the Tour of Renfrewshire, 40 miles and only slightly lumpy, is on Sunday 2nd February, as advertised on Strava.
All rides will leave from clubrooms on Miller Street.
Can we have a keyholder available to open the clubrooms prior to the first bunch leaving.
As normal, there will be three bunches with the slower bunch leaving at 9:00am, the second bunch leaving at 9:30am and the fastest bunch at 9:45am.
The route is Clubhouse, Georgetown, Erskine, Bishopton, West Ferry, Clune, The Wall, Lochwinnoch road, then cut off to Howwood and back along the Beith Road. It would be helpful if there was someone in every group who knows the route.
http://www.mapmyride.com/gb/elderslie-sct/reliability-no-1-tour-of-the-shire-route-1730016
As always, donations of soup, cakes, 5 course banquets with choices of fine wines will be gratefully accepted. Such donations will be served in the clubrooms at the end of the ride, please indicate what you will be bringing in your posting. One contribution per person across the 4 weeks of Reliability rides will mean a hearty snack for all at the end of each ride.
Can we have a non riding volunteer please to heat the soup, etc. for this first week.
If you don't feel ready for the full 40 miles at this stage in the season, don't worry there will be others in the same boat and there are various shorter options available. Just come along and work up an appetite for the soup!
I will plan to join the first group out.

Pleasant tour of the shire today with Ian and Alan. Coffee at Kilmacolm and then home. Not bad considering the rain earlier.

gregbalden got a reaction from GaryK in The Big Summer BBQ - 16 August 2020
Good evening all.
We, the Johnstone Wheelers, are in the very fortunate position to be one of the only clubs in Scotland to have a purpose built clubroom, owned and operated solely by us!
So, why aren't we using this MORE?
I'm proposing we hold a big Summer BBQ at the clubhouse on the 16 Aug 2020 to round of the summer. This is open to all, members, family and children. A small fee would be payed in order to buy food and possibly some soft drinks. If you want a few beers BYOB. A short turbo challenge and a raffle would also be held.
This event would follow a short full club run.
So, the question is, who's in? And who's interested?

Evening Folks,
As many have probably seen, and many have probably heard my grumblings, the club is keen to get more bodies on the road!!
To this end, I have designed a calender with all the Sundays until August on it.
PURPOSE: To allow riders to plan the rides they can attend, have a user friendly clear view of rides and routes coming up and encourage members to ride together.
A few things to note please.
1. The ride captain/ Road captian is not a hard and fast dictator style post, rather an experienced member who can keep tabs on the pace and any person who is falling out the back. It also provides a single point of contact for any new joiners/ inexperienced bunch riders.
2. I will not dictate to YOU, the bunch riders, where we go. If you want a route, tell me or if possible update the sheet.
3. The first Sunday, shall be utilised as a Big ride. Possibly an earlier start, something for a whole day. This can be moved with the general agreement of most members.
This idea should allow a certain level of planning, allowing more riders out and about. For me certainly, I know what shift I am on until the end of time. Sooo, this means I can see the days off I want, begin the bargaining with the wife, and sort out child care.
I have set out a variety of rides. These can be adjusted. I will post on a Tues / weds on the forum, as well as put out a WhatsApp notification.
This is a trial idea and may continue with support from bunch members. ANY ideas for development, criticisms or praise are welcome. However, if you wholly disagree, please be polite and civil and message me directly. I will be happy to speak with anyone.
Gang Forward!!
