Seems like yesterday we were riding carefree and joking on bunch runs and planning / developing a youth section for the club

Such a character and it was only when he was gone did I realise how big a part he played in so many other peoples' lives outside the club and how little I knew of him off the bike

B's was rather taxing last night. Kayleigh returned with a vengeance. 2 very sore scratch races, one average over 30mph, and one even sorer points race where I and quite a few others got lapped. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger - for things like Arran

Enjoyable night - Only missed a week of racing/training but the previous couple before that i felt off the pace so wasnt sure how i'd get on.

First up was a scratch, there was a crash with about 2 laps to go and there was a bit of a pause with most thinking the race was going to be neutralised. However there were a couple of riders who continued to race and got a gap and as there were no flags being waved i tried and catch them. Didnt manage this got a 3rd which was then upgraded to a 2nd after a relegation. Next up was points, think i got a 2nd and a 3rd, then just hung on for the rest, once again not good enough! Last race of the night was another scratch - an early attack had someone dangling off the front for a few laps that eventually got closed down then there was another attack and someone else getting quite a big gap with maybe about 7 or 8 to go, this was getting pulled in gradually then with about 4 to i tried bridge which i managed - had about 1 second of recovery on his wheel before i attacked and managed to make it stick. I was sure i could hear someone on my wheel during all of this so was pleasantly surprised when i realised i had a gap.

arrived late at the clubrooms and had a choice of waiting to ride with the skinnies (and bily) or setting off to chase the 09.30s. hard work into the wind, but hooked up with AdamJet over the top of the Bowfield and rode on. Hooked up with Andy and Roddy on the drag out of Stewarton - didn't realise they were with the JW - and carried on, with the goal of not being caught.

Got to the junction with the Moscow circuit and decision time. Carry on and be that last bunch on the road, go the wrong way on the circuit and do a swift U when the charging bunch appeared, or head back and see if we could outrun everyone. Fast men arrived and whizzed past to we opted for discretion rather than valour and headed for home. Andy & Roddy dropped off on the way back to Stewarton and Adam and I made it back to the clubrooms without being caught.

No keys among the 09.00's hanging about in Miller Street, so Adam and I carried on to Bishy where he lives and then hail showers all the way home for me. Gubbed.

Well done to young Adam. Hard miles for a 13 year old.

Have to agree Davie. Vos was way better than the rest of the field. Only rider who may have made a difference was Compton but terrible start then getting her bike tangled with another put an end to her day.

Haven't watched the U23 bit the Juniors was a good race the Elite Men yesterday was a nail biter right to the finish

Tough night in the Cs with the talented young guys moving up from the youth races for the new year. Not only are they fast but their racing skills put many of the adults (including myself) to shame.

First up was the points, managed to get the first sprint but didnt capitalise on that and didnt get any more points. 2nd was 30 lap scratch - there was a rider off the front with about 4 laps to go and someone started to wind up the sprint to chase him down, i was sitting nicely on his shoulder thinking i was in a good position but he pulled up and i had to go for a long one while he slotted in behind...d'oh! Managed to catch the rider in front but ended up getting overtaken - I thought i held on for 2nd but i dont see my name in the results so maybe not! Last scratch was 20 laps, when the sprint started i tried to come round but ended up just hanging on. I reckon the the next few weeks / months are going to be pretty hard!

Talking to the girls on Sunday, I said I've got a petrol strimmer and would do the grass, preferably on a frosty day when I can't go out on the bike. Can the gate key be arranged? Does the club have any other wrinklies like myself who would help? One day or morning a week for a couple of weeks would make a big hole in the work.

For those who can make it, Cafe Siempre will entertain us from just after 6pm until 8pm on Thursday (5th) evening. A chance to get familiar with what's on offer in terms of fabric and quality, to try on for size bits and pieces of kit and ask questions.

I'll be there for the most part. I'd appreciate feedback on this positive and negative, so feel free to post up your thots. This will also give you fellow members some idea of what's what with regards to Pactimo.

    Cheers

Excluding those who have already posted their intention to come along or their apologies for not being able to make it, perhaps a timely reminder to all that this is your opportunity to get involved, air your views and influence the direction in which your club is run for the benefit of you, the members.

This is definitely not the preserve of those who have been or are currently involved in the club's management or those who regularly post their views on these boards. Hopefully we'll see a good turn out from across the whole club on Friday.
