Just in from SC - posting here first See me? See happy? so you can jump to the front of the bunch

The next West of Scotland senior track cluster session will be on the 16th March from 5-9pm.

This session is open to Junior and Senior riders who are members of clubs affiliated to Scottish Cycling in the West of Scotland. All riders must be accredited.

Entry is via Rider HQ - http://www.riderhq.com/events/67382/west-of-scotland-track-cluster-0Entries will open tomorrow (31st Jan) at 9am and will close on Friday 14th March at 5pm.

There are only 50 spaces available on this session and I anticipate it being very popular. I would therefore recommend encouraging members to enter sooner rather than later.

There will be another track cluster session on the 11th May. Entries for this will open after the session in March.

Hi, Ian. You may find the track rules document on the webpage above helpful (hopefully!) There are pointers on etiquette during open sessions and what's expected of riders during racing, too. There are a great many Glasgow track league riders who would benefit from 20 minutes spent reading this article followed by 20 minutes lying in a darkened room thinking about what they've read.

Magnifique Alan, glad I waited to see that one. Great night as usual at the track with most groups over 20 riders. I was happy to be back in the B's and comfortably midfield after finding some mojo under my bottom bracket in the past couple of weeks.

Tough night in the D's too, but managed to pick up my first ever podium finish - 3rd - in the last D race with an epic sprint finish taking 3rd by a tyre width. I think that the shorter race (15 laps) and a rest in the middle due to a crash helped me.

I'm inclined to take Mul's advice on food, although a man who confuses 8 pints of Hoegaarden and a pastry with dinner may have issues!

Booking a car, a 4 bunk cabin and dinner on the return trip comes to £370 inc £4 credit card fee. If you're ok with this give me your full names please and I'll complete booking.

I have registered today. Have yet to tell the missus. Hope some kind soul will give me a berth in their car. I am still unwell and now on a course of antibiotics so at least I have an excuse for this irrational decision.

    Just a suggestion..

A compromise would be Mallorca again based in the south (e.g. Palmanova). I remember the Mimimosa Park Hotel was a favourite with the Glasgow Wheelers. While the Palmanova Palace was also popular. Both had high capacity. Nearby to the hotels is an Irish pub, while just a short walk away is the cultural retreat of Magaluf..

The advantage of the south is short aiport connection (maximum 30 minutes), routes to places like Port Andrax are accessible, and you can do a tourist run to Palma easily. You can still do a loop over Soller or the Puig from the south, but it is a little longer. It gives the opportunity to precede Soller with Deia, which mixes it up a little. And of course the advantage of Magaluf.

Disadvantages are that Sa Calobra is almost impossible in a single day, there is no chance of going to the lighthouse, and the Calvia climb is a daily staple that might get a bit repetitive by day 4. Also getting to the east and back is a bit of a pain (so doing monastery loops are tricky). And of course the disadvantage of Magaluf.

Knowing both I prefer the north for training and variety of routes (for longer holidays). I prefer the south for the shorter transfer time, and nightlife (but then I get sentimental about Blackpool).

Well done to both teams, it's not as easy as some people make it look, a very creditable performance to all, it just takes a fair amount of practice and a lot of training to get it right! Feeling fine now despite illness, could be the combination of paracetamol, ibuprofen, sudafed, anti-histamine, Vicks, tiger balm, smelling salts, synex, benalyn, strepsils and red wine
