Iain, if you're running clinchers, then as Billy indicated before - Vittoria Open Pave in 25mm, preferably with the green stripe side wall for that authentic look :-)

 

No more than 95-100 psi to cushion those pesky cobbles, and you can use it as winter tyres when you're done with it.

Go 27mm even for obvious reason, if your bike clearance allow that is!

Biggest thing for you is being able to climb 17% plus hills sitting on the saddle as traction on the pave is not great especially if wet.

The first or second section of the cobbles has a massive camber so get in the centre and defend your space.

Still think this was the hardest thing I have done on a bike

Great fun though especially the mental fast start on a 1.5 m path
