Members Iain67
Chung/Billy what tyres would you recommend for Flanders? I have 25mm schwalbe ultremos but probably need replaced.
Life Members chung Posted February 17, 2016 Author Life Members Report Share Posted February 17, 2016 Iain, if you're running clinchers, then as Billy indicated before - Vittoria Open Pave in 25mm, preferably with the green stripe side wall for that authentic look :-) No more than 95-100 psi to cushion those pesky cobbles, and you can use it as winter tyres when you're done with it. http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/sp/road-track-bike/Vittoria-Open-Pave-CG-Tyre-Full-Black-700x27mm/VITTTYRF272?utm_campaign=Googlebase&utm_medium=organic&utm_source=Googlebase&geoip=UK&gclid=CLyQ9Ib1_soCFUqdGwod7MMJOQ&gclsrc=aw.ds Go 27mm even for obvious reason, if your bike clearance allow that is! Happy shopping :-) Cheers Chung

Richie Cross
Got mine as well. From reading stories of the sportive, it seems to be the clincher of choice.

2023 Subscriptions XXX Posted February 17, 2016 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted February 17, 2016 25 mm pave can be hard to find as they do 27 mm but Shop around you might get them at £30 I use them all winter great tyre
2023 Subscriptions XXX Posted February 17, 2016 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted February 17, 2016 Iain Biggest thing for you is being able to climb 17% plus hills sitting on the saddle as traction on the pave is not great especially if wet. The first or second section of the cobbles has a massive camber so get in the centre and defend your space. Still think this was the hardest thing I have done on a bike Great fun though especially the mental fast start on a 1.5 m path

Richie Cross
How have you found the tyre wear on them Billy? I've always sworn by Conti GP4000s as my summer tyre. Thought I'd try that Pave as my winter tyre but as I've hardly been out, they should still be ok by the time we go. Are they better 'scrubbed in' a bit anyway? Worth buying more as my summer tyres? Committee Alan McLean Posted February 18, 2016 Committee Report Share Posted February 18, 2016 Al, that is just brilliant. I have the equivalent 9.8 Boardman cross frame and it is extremely well made with lovely detailing for cable routes etc. Your fully road version is a complete steal. Do they have any left?
