2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted August 26, 2015 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 26, 2015 With Chung's race on Sunday is anyone up for an energetic 60-70 miles. Galston leg bender with garden centre stop, or dare I even suggest it, a cheeky wee Arran single with or without a ride down? chung

2023 Subscriptions thejanullrichdietplan Posted August 26, 2015 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 26, 2015 If the weather is decent then an Arran single sounds good!
DavieB
Would prefer Galston personally as have some commitments to deal with in the p.m.
2023 Subscriptions George Posted August 27, 2015 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 27, 2015 Either option sounds good-I have to get in the Arran club just to shut up Charlie & Mark. A ride down and back would be nice to bring the mileage up. Galston is a great tough ride too but don't know if I can be bothered spending the rest of saturday cleaning my bike! Davie B-if doing single Arran you would be back for mid afternoon, I think. I'm sure Paul can give more detail on ferry crossings.
2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted August 27, 2015 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 27, 2015 Cannot figure out how to post a photo on here - so I posted on the JWCC facebook page a wee scroll of the Arran Hall of Fame. Encourage you to check it out - and let me know of any inaccuracies !
2023 Subscriptions robster82 Posted August 27, 2015 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 27, 2015 Should be up for either lads though I will struggle to meet earlier than 8 o'clock as I will be otherwise engaged saving lives and fighting fires all night with no sleep. alexb
I'd like to do Arran too as I've missed them all year. Have a pass out!
alexb
Just a thought if Arran is the choice, What ferry would we be going for? The 0945?

2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted August 27, 2015 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 27, 2015 Thanks Jann ! Alex, it's traditionally the 7am ferry, return ferry being 1105 back in Ardrossan at noon. Maybe last chance this year to get in the Hall of Fame which will be ceremoniously posted in clubrooms at first turbo session to the sound of massed pipe bands and a 21 gun salute. 2023 Subscriptions George Posted August 27, 2015 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 27, 2015 Right. I'm definitely going. Leaving all bank & credit cards at home tomorrow to stop me going on the batter after work. I'm easy on ferry times but was planning to ride down but think this would now necessitate riding in the dark if going for 7am ferry. Not that I'm afraid of the dark. Robbie had indicated he'd like to go but can't make it until later. Can we try to accommodate him? Think we should. Also: what's the quickest route from Paisley to Ardrosssn ferry? 2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted August 27, 2015 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 27, 2015 Ok if Robbie is a goer for Saturday at 0945 who is up for going then and return on 1350, back at Ardrossan 1445 or so. Let us know chaps, Alex, Jan, Robbie, George, mibeez Davie.
2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted August 27, 2015 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 27, 2015 Fastest route from Paisley George is Dalry then over hill to Ardrossan
alexb
I'm fine with 0945. Happy to cycle down to Adrossan too. Meet at club rooms and head from there? Are we as well cycle track to Kilbirnie/Glengarnock, Highfield Road to Dalry, head up road to West Kilbride but take the left turn at top of hill down to Adrossan? Around 22 miles. Leaving club as soon as Robbie can make it (0800?) would get us there in time.

DavieB
Enjoy chaps....won't be out for this one as commitments more binding than anticipated, probably a few hours 'cross for me. I'm sure you will make it easily as long as Geo doesn't slow you up too much.

alexb
Ferry gets back into Adrossan just before 3. You should be back just after half three. Can you make it?
2023 Subscriptions P McDonald Posted August 28, 2015 Author 2023 Subscriptions Report Share Posted August 28, 2015 Robbie Ferry back 1445. Bikes are last off so you would be back at car 1455 and home about 3.30pm. So we are going for 0945 ferry then. Looking at the latest forecast it will be a tough wee shift tomorrow. Just a thought for those comtemplating riding down which will be straight into the wind - it might be an idea to drive down same a srobbie and save your beans. Think I might drive and just get to Ardrossan 30 mins early for a wee run along the coast to warm up.
